A reader Wonders…

“I just realized I am not well versed in the ‘vacant spot’ and how to read it; for example, 19 Virgo (near my Natal Jup) – Is the vacant point an important piece to incorporate Natal planet positions to understand creating the pattern within the transits?  Or is the vacant spot more an indication of what is to be understood from the pattern configuration?  If you have any references from your posts that I could study further?  Or maybe a quick explanation will do the trick.”

Yes, when you’re at https://astrobuss.wordpress.com/, there’s a long column of keywords (“categories”) to the right of the text.  If you’re looking at a specific post, it doesn’t show up.  I try to add a keyword to a post only when the post explains the term, but I’m not totally consistent about categorizing all posts.  I notice that there are two cubbyholes for “Vacancy,” one under “Planets etc.” and one under “Astrologuese.”  They should be combined, as there’s no difference in how they’re used – but it would take me about an hour to combine them, so I won’t bother.

But let’s go ahead with a quick explanation, as we never know what we’re going to find from the keyword list – I “improve” my astrology constantly, so I’ll just tell you how I use Vacancies now…

Configurations in a chart are combinations of planetary angles that, usually, fill the Zodiac (usually that means they add to 360 Degrees).  For instance, the Grand Sextille comprises six planets each two Signs or 60 Degrees apart, 6 x 60 = 360.  The Grand Sextile (and the Grand Anything) is considered to be much more Powerful than six Sextiles randomly placed around a chart or less well organized.

I consider it an Almost-Grand Sextile when five of the six Positions are occupied, because if we supply the missing Energy in the sixth Position, then we Complete the Grand Sextile and Enjoy the Benefits  (kinda like Bingo or the Lotteries, of a Full Hand in Poker).  It’s similar with other Almost-Grand Configurations – Quintile, Septile, etc. Occasionally, when it seems appropriate, I’ll consider a Configuration with two Vacancies to be Almost-Grand.  Like the four adjoining Septiles we had at the 25 April 2020 Pluto Station, where just for the heck of it we looked to see if there were Stars at the missing three Positions (still in my queue, Bob!).

Notice that an Almost-Grand Cross is a T-Square – the primary Benefit of any Grand Configuration is that it’s Balanced, including the Grand Cross.  It combines four T-Squares, but it’s In Balance, so it’s not considered as Troublesome as the T-Square.  The primary Challenge of the T-Square then is to Create Balance from it.  We don’t usually consider the Vacancy of a T-Square, but it wouldn’t hurt to do so.

We were looking at a 19-Virgo Vacancy in the Almost-Grand Sextile in the 7 May Full Moon chart.  I don’t have a way to check to see if a Vacancy may be occupied by asteroids (or even dwarf planets) that I don’t usually use – I wish I did, as it would help a lot.  If anyone has a way to do this, let me know.  So if none of the “planets” (meaning planets, asteroids, dwarfs, Lights, Nodes, etc) I use are there, I look for Stars nearby.  That’s an iffy proposition, as there aren’t that many Stars that are cataloged for use by astrologers.  However, if there’s a Biggie there, like Arcturus or Regulus or Sirius, that’s Huge.

Whether there’s a Star near the Vacancy or not, if you have a natal planet there, you automatically Complete the Configuration, without even trying.  So for you it’s a full Grand Sextile, because you Embody the Energies of your natal chart.  If you have natal planets near any of the other planets in the Configuration, that’s worth noting as well, because that natal planet will be Lit Up more than usual.  As Huminals (Huper Animals), we’re like Viruses, with those little Spikes all over, corresponding to the planets in our natal chart, each of which is an Antenna for broadcasting and picking up (and maybe getting Stuck on) Energies from outside of ourself.

So that Almost-Grand Sextile in the Full Moon chart comprised…

• Klotho – Beginning New Timelines
• Sun-Mercury – Awareness of our Essence
• Neptune – Our Relationship to Energies Larger than Our Own
• Hylonome-Veritas – Insights into our Codependence
• Moon – our Instincts

If we add a Jupiter to that in the Vacancy, which would apply only to you, we Expand everything.  A Grand Sextile itself is about fabulous Grace or Good Luck in combining the Energies in each Sextile, which in turn is about Projects where we take the First Step and the Universe takes over after that.  So for the next several weeks (Full Moon charts impact the following 2-4 weeks) we might be finding excellent progress around Expanding New Projects that involve Trusting our own Instincts more, and Listening More to (and/or PIAVAing the Assistance of) our Guides, instead of Playing to or Soliciting the Opinions of Others.

Now, for most of the rest of us, without a planet in or near 19 Virgo, we have to Consciously add the Energy of the Vacancy in order to take advantage of the Enhanced Grace of the Grand Sextile.  For a guess about what that might mean we’d read the Sabian Symbol for that Degree, 19 Virgo: “A Swimming Race.”  To me that means Efficiency at processing our Emotions.  So for the rest of us for the next several weeks we might find great progress with New Projects that involve Trusting our own Instincts more, Listening More to our Guides and Soliciting their Assistance more, and Trusting our own Emotions (as Opposed to our Thoughts About them of course), instead of Trying to Please Others.

For all of us, the Programming we received from our Mothers is likely to be particularly Lit Up, since the Saturn Station occurs on Mother’s Day.  And we can’t ignore the fact that the Moon goes Out of Bounds on Mothers Day, so it’s all going to be a lot more Emotional than it would be usually – though telling Mom to Butt Out of our Choices will probably always be a Chancy Conversation.  But its a Grand Sextile, suggesting very Positive Outcomes from any Project that we Initiate, so it may be the best time ever to Begin our Self-Liberation.

Or, you can take an Easier path, especially if your Mum is Difficult (or Deceased), and use your Mirrors instead.  Either way our Relationship with our Dear Mother is Changing, so we want to Make the Best of the Opportunity in whatever way Feels best to us – that is, by Trusting our Emotions.  If our Emotions are Conflicted, as they’re likely to be, what an Opportunity to Stay Present with our Confusion and Avoid trying to Fix it.

If your Mother is the type to Demand Commitment, what an Opportunity to Stand your Ground (Veritas-Hylonome) – “Mom, I hear that you’re Asking for a firm Commitment, but I’m not Ready to do that, so we’ll have to leave the whole Issue Dangling till I am Ready, and I don’t know when that will be.”  Then, while the odds of Success are Great (Grand Sextile), you get to Practice Not Trying to Fix or Manipulate your Mother’s Emotions!

You might think this all sounds Daunting, but it’s a Critical and Natural part of Claiming Your Power, and as we’ve said, there may never be a Better Time.  Trying to stuff your Mother’s Heavy Emotions into your Carrion Bag for the Ascension Flight won’t work.  They’ll bump you off the Flight for overweight.

2019 Q4 and 2020 Q1 Stations

Now that we have a “week off” more or less, let’s look at the remainder of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020.  We’ll use several “shorthand” abbreviations or symbols…

• Â.Mickie stands for asteroid Mickie
• Ð.Goofy stands for dwarf planet Goofy
• Š/ stands for Station, when a planet’s Energy is especially Strong
• Î stands for Initiation of a New Cycle between two planets

Below we list only the Stations (plus one major Initiation), or the times when a planet’s Energy is Strongest and most Distinct or Identifiable.  When there are several planets Stationary at the same time, though, it will likely be hard to Distinguish the Separate Influence of each planet, because their Energies will be Merged.  When two planets are Stationary at the same time, it’s as if they’re Conjunct.

In general, we Experience the Energy of a Station before it happens, as the Energy Intensifies until it is “Complete” (the planet starts moving in the other Direction), and then it drops off rapidly.  In cases where we aren’t Neutral to the Energy, we may make Decisions about it, and those Decisions (Orcus) will carry the Energy over into the time following the Station, possibly even eventually Creating new Karma.

For instance, the Energy of asteroid Moira is about Fate and Choice – Fate in situations where our Karma is still Unconscious…

and Choice in situations where we’ve brought the Karma into Consciousness…

Oh!  I’m really not Experiencing what they seem to be Doing, I’m Experiencing my own lifelong Habitual Reaction to it!  They don’t even know I’m here!

Once we’re Conscious, we can Choose to Respond Constructively, rather than Reacting from our Victimhood.

So if we’re Insulted or Angered by something someone Says or Does, and we don’t Realize that it’s our Button that’s been pushed, we might Decide that this person is not “on our side,” and make them (or worse, people like that) a Lifelong Enemy.  And if we stay in 3D (which is likely if we haven’t Cleared our Karma), we’re likely to continue the same Conflict into Other Lifetimes.  You can tie up all Deviations from Whirled Peas and all of World History in this simple wrapper, and there won’t be much left to Clean Up.

On the other hand, we might Feel Insulted or Angry, but if we Recognize that it’s our Feeling, we may Choose to Agree to Disagree, or even move to a different Meeting, but we won’t make it into a Capital Offense.

There are a number of ways to guess how soon we’ll begin to Experience a Station before it’s Complete, but a useful rule of thumb is…

• A week for the four outer planets, asteroid Bee-Zed, and the dwarf planets except dwarf planet Ceres (that is, everyone with orbits longer than ten years)
• Several days for the three inner planets, the asteroids, and dwarf planet Ceres (orbits between one and ten years)
• Since “Tropical” astrology (the kind we use) sees events from the Perspective of Earth, neither Earth nor Sun nor Moon are ever Stationary

We might also begin to Experience the Energy of the next Station as soon as the current Station is Complete.  Our General Sensitivity is obviously relevant.  And if a Station occurs on one of our natal planets, we’ll React more Strongly and probably sooner.

If we want an Astrological Rule rather than Empirical Guidance, the usual Sensitivity projects that the Impact begins when the Stationing planet is less than one Degree from its Exact Station.  However, some of the newer dwarf planets (such as Sedna) move less than one Degree in a year, which would mean they’re Always Stationary.  And yes, we can certainly interpret that to mean that Fear is Omnipresent, as was common Before the Current Era (ie, BCE or BC)!  If we’re in the Habit of Converting Fear to Power (with Kegels for instance), then this is a Powerful interpretation!

But using lengthy Stations can give us so much overlap that we’re never sure what’s happening.

Asteroids usually take about four days to move one Degree, but when they’re slowing down to Stop and Turn Around, they’ll be much slower.  For instance, rather than 23-26 October for the first Klotho Station, you might look at 11-26 October (the one-Degree range) instead, and Pay a lot more Attention if you have a natal planet near the Ides of Gemini.

Bottom Line, feel free to start my date ranges sooner.  But if you’re still Experiencing Strong Energy after the Station, in order to Avoid accumulating new Karma you want to look over the last several days to see if you’ve made any Decisions based on your Discomfort with the Energy of the Station.  If so, Own your Discomfort and Revert your Decisions.

Initiations are Conjunctions, and Conjunctions act like Stations in that we Experience the Energy increasing in Strength as the Exact Conjunction approaches, then it drops off rapidly, assuming we’ve Captured the available Learning to keep, and not the Energy.  Again, we want to Pay Attention to Discomfort before the Initiation, and Work on Ourself to Own and Revert if necessary after the Initiation.  What we Learn from any astroevent is ours to keep.  They’re all Teachers.

Initiations Differ from Conjunctions, however, in that they also Begin a new Cycle, and the Energy that’s Born at the Initiation – including your Reactions to and Learnings from the Initiation – will Endure on some level for the entire Cycle, whether the Cycle is Initiated by a New Moon (28 days) or by Saturn and Pluto (30-some years).

We’ve added a few words of preliminary interpretation, but of course the actual interpretation will flow from a chart drawn for the Station, which we don’t normally do till we’re getting close to the event.  The preliminary interpretation will probably hang True, but it may not be The Most Important interpretation.

The short interpretations below are Dimensions, not Directions. The Direction is up to us.  For instance, in the first few days of November Our Perspective on our Vitality may Improve or Decline.  If the latter, it’s Identifying Karma for us to Let Go Of.  If we Allow our Victimhood to Reinforce the Decline, we Lose.  If we Notice the Decline and Realize that we have the Power to Heal (Tapping, Poor-Sweethearting, PIAVAing, Plan-Executing, Invoking the Unseen Therapist, et al), we Win.

If Our Perspective on our Vitality Improves, Gratitude is Relevant.  You don’t want to use the Improvement to pad your Ego – it’s not your Ego that Heals, though it can certainly Catalyze Healing, and increasing Self-Love is always Valuable, but not for Cause.  If Self-Love depends on Cause, it will never become Unconditional.  Self-Love is the Natural Condition we Strive to Return to, and we can certainly Congratulate ourself for Work Well Done when we step in that Direction.  But it’s Grace that Heals, and to Welcome and Encourage Grace, lift out the “c” and drop in a “titud,” then give it plenty of Exercise.

We aren’t adding the Moons and Sign Changes to this list, because they have different orientations in Time, and they would just make the list overlong.  The above are what we regard as The Most Important astroevents of the next six months.  We’ll table the Moons and Sign Changes separately, and maybe add the Out-of-Bounds periods, since the Moon starts going Out-of-Bounds in March for the first time in a decade.  Then if we get time, we can combine the lists to make a complete calendar.

Life Force Full Moon

It’s still a week away, but the Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse occurs on 20 January (9pm PST) at 1 Leo.  It’s visible in full throughout the Western Hemisphere.  And it’s Merged with (Conjunct) dwarf planet Varuna, the Life Force, the Energy which Animates Entities of all sorts.

An Eclipse symbolizes Illumination, as what we have not been Seeing is suddenly Obvious by its Absence.  Consciousness is Expanded not by Discovery, but by Differentiation.  We hear a Bird chirping in a Tree, but we can’t find it – till it moves.  Then we Realize we’ve been looking at it all along, we just didn’t Differentiate it from its Background.

“At first each change leads to new fears and discomforts but once acclimatized to the new conditions, the knowledge that they have overcome yet more hazards rewards them with greater happiness and their power grows with each new experience; the more power they develop, the speedier is their progress in every way.

“Power is the key which controls all life in growth, in colour and in form; the greater the power, the greater the progress of both the giver and receiver.  As it increases, so the capacity for giving grows and, with each advance, the giver evolves in sensitivity and is thus enabled to enjoy each ensuing experience with added understanding and pleasure.  Power is that which enables all events to take place and without it life would become extinct.

That which Animates.  If you know anything about Quantum Physics, you recognize the process.  Same Phenomena, different Metaphors.

There are three levels of Interpretation for Lunar Energy.  Not three levels of Lunar Energy, but three levels of sophistication in Interpreting and understanding Lunar Energy.  At the first level, the Moon represents Change, or random variation, random Motion, random Emotion.  When someone cuts you off on the freeway, sometimes you think, “They must be in a hurry,” and other times you curse them.  Random Reactions.

In the second level of Interpretation, the Moon represents our Instincts.  In the first case, you likely sensed that the person who cut you off was having an emergency of some kind, while in the second case you may have Instinctively Knew that the driver was Angry, and his (well, would a her cut you off?  Maybe, but less likely) reckless driving was an Act of Competition.

On the third level, the Moon stands for the Energy that holds Matter together, in the way described by Marusis above.  Remember, to Manifest we need Clarity, Neutrality, and Passion.  Clarity in the sense that we’ve Cleared any Resistance from the Unconscious, Neutrality in the sense that we don’t have an Emotional Investment in any specific Outcome, and Passion in the sense that we Care Deeply.

Is there a Contradiction between this Neutrality and this Passion?  Maybe, but Remember that Contradiction occurs only in Duality, ie, only in the mind of the Observer, not in Observed Reality.  So if you want to call it a Paradox instead of a Contradiction, I’d be fine with that.  Still skeptical about how you could Care Deeply and Passionately without an Emotional Attachment?  Your Passion is your Motivation.  It drives you to immer Streben.  Not getting the Outcome you want doesn’t deter you.

Consider your Deepest Desire.  You’ve been Streben for it as long as you’ve been Alive, and you still don’t have it.  Does that mean you give up?  You couldn’t if you wanted to – you’d just sublimate it and Seek it by a different name, one that is politically correct to your Ego.   Spots?  No, those aren’t Spots, they’re Stripes!  You’re the only one who Believe that, but what does that matter?  It’s just a word.

But your Deepest Desire is just a placeholder.  The closer you get to it, the more it morphs.  It’s a distorted picture of your Mission, but it’s the Clearest picture you can grok at your current level of Awareness.  Your True Mission is ineffable.  PIAVA it, and see what happens.  “I Wonder what it might look like to have Neutrality and Passion at the same time.”

This is why the Moon frequently Triggers other astroevents.  Because the Lunarglue is necessary for events or objects or circumstances to Adhere and stay Adhered.  Personalizing this Lunar Energy, whether by the name of Faerie, Ganesha, God/Goddess, the Unseen Therapist, Mother Mary, or Fred, gives you the advantage that you have someone to address when you Ask for its, or their, aid.  If you make it a Religion, you lose, because in most cases, when you confine Spirit to Either/Or, you’ve put a dagger through its Varuna.  Spirit and the Moon are Both/And.

Full Moon Configuration I

Okay, after a long bout of techno-obsolescence we’ve achieved visuals again, so we can go back to involving the “right brain” too.  This is how we do what we do.  Let’s temporarily take the 10 April Full Moon chart apart, starting with the 20-26 Degree region that the Full Moon itself occupies…

Focusing for the moment on just the heavier lines, we can see three intertwining Configurations…

• The Grand Cross or the red box with the red “X” in the middle
• The Trine Bridge or the blue lines connecting two corners of the red box
• A Finger of God, which is the green arrowhead, pointing to the same place in the upper right as the blue lines do

The Full Moon is the diagonal red line from upper left to lower right.  The Moon at upper left Conjoins Haumea (Rebirth), and the Sun at lower right Conjoins Uranus and Eris (Honesty about our Soul Self) – more of what we’ve been enduring for the last five years, the Urge to be Forthcoming with our True Self.

Red lines signify Energy (or of course Resistence to same – the Unconscious knows Dimension but not Direction, so Opposites are Equal in its Realm).  The diagonal from lower left to upper right is the Square to the Full Moon, Pluto (Transformation) on the lower left to Vesta (Unconscious Beliefs) on the upper right, which is labeled “oob” or Out of Bounds, which means Strong.

The resulting red Square containing a red “X” is called a Grand Cross, and it signifies Motivation.  It’s like we have four full-time jobs to do here (Rebirth, Honesty, Transformation, Beliefs) at the same time, so we’re constantly rushing from one to the other.  We don’t really get a lot of Choice, as this is happening in the Unconscious, so we can’t easily quit or shortchange any of the four, we just have to be an Efficient Multi-tasker.  That’s Motivation.

Basically, in order to be Reborn as our Soul Self in Human form, we have to get our Unconscious Beliefs Transformed.  Our Unconscious Beliefs consist of our Karmic Habituations, our Childhood Programming (which is often a Mirror for our Karma), and the various prejudices we Learn from our Culture.  Archetypes they’re called – Constellations of Energy that are stronger than, and usually invisible to, our Ego.  

That is, they run our Show.  Our Archetypes Enchant or En-Trance us.  We’re Zombies under their Command.  When we refer to Pluto as symbolizing Transformation, what we really mean is Formation of a New Trance.  On the Global scale, this is the nature of a Zeitgeist.

The blue lines represent Grace, the long blue line “Dumb-Luck” Grace (a “Trine”) that happens to us, and the short blue line (a “Sextile”) “Working” Grace, where Grace flows but we have to make the first move to get it started, like a matching grant.  

You can see the “Trine Bridge” across the Full Moon, with Moon-Haumea (Rebirth) Trine Veritas-Chaos (The Truth of Limitlessness), which Sextiles Sun-Uranus-Eris (“I Gotta Be Me”).  A Trine Bridge shows us the “easy way out” of the potential hassles (too much Energy) of the Grand Cross; in this case we see that we can facilitate our Rebirth by Letting Go of our Limitations.

The long green lines are “Quincunxes,” linking Planets that are five Signs apart, or five/twelfths of the way ’round the Zodiac from one another (Quin = 5, Unx=12).  They symbolize Curiosity.  Curiosity is in bed with Love, since they both eschew Judgment, and Judgment is the Opposite of Love.  We don’t mean Curiosity as in “How does that work?”  We mean Curiosity as in “Wow, look at that!  Isn’t that Amazing!” – the kind of Awe and Wonder you see in the face of any Newborn.

Obviously, True Curiosity can be Scary, as many of us crave the false Security provided by Understanding.  The shortcoming of Understanding is that it’s Conditional; even when it’s accurate and relevant, it’s vitally dependent upon the current Zeitgeist.  If we’ve succeeded in Accepting, simultaneously, as many different Perspectives as we can get our hands on, we’ll be less “thrown” when a Zeitgeist Changes, but even in the best case it will be a major Adjustment.

The short green lines are “Unxes,” linking two planets that are one Sign apart, or one twelfth of the way around the Loop.  Unxes are about Pattern-Breaking.  Unxes and Quincunxes are members of the Twelfth Harmonic.  The Fifth Harmonic is about Learning, so a Quin-Unx is about Learning to Break Patterns.  How do we do that?  We drop into Curiosity.

When two long green lines converge – as they do on Veritas-Chaos, it’s called a “Finger of God” – that is, the Universe is saying “Pay Attention to this!” and “Don’t try to Understand it – It Is What It Is.”  and “Accept it as an Assumption, not as a Logical Conclusion.”  Veritas-Chaos is about the Truth of Limitlessness, so this is a request by the Universe that we Loosen up on our Belief that we Understand it All.

So this segment of the New Moon chart tells us that…

• In order to be Reborn as our Soul Self in Human form, we have to get our Unconscious Beliefs Transformed
• We can facilitate our Rebirth by Letting Go of our Limitations
• The Universe has requested that we Loosen up on our Belief that we Understand it All

Pretty straightforward, eh?
