Sedna

(1) If you, like me, have been wondering why there seems to be such a Disturbance in the Force lately, I just noticed – Sedna is Stationary!

Sedna is about regrettable Actions taken – or not taken – out of Fear of Anger.  This could take the form of Hesitation to accept and Act Out our own Anger because we Fear we won’t be able to do it Responsibly, or Fear of Other People’s Anger.  

That would include the Oaths we made to ourself in order to avoid the Anger of our historical parents, and the resulting Unconscious Limitations we face daily.  And the Karmic roots or Esoteric Purpose underlying our Soul’s Choice of those parents and programming.

It’s obvious that someone seems to have had a Purpose in mind when a birth time was chosen for – or by – us.  While some folks say that we as a Soul had been burdened with Inertia from Habits (enforced by avoidance of certain “Held” Emotions) in Previous or Parallel Lives, others say that our Free Soul Chose to come to this planet to help shift a particular facet of the Planet’s Inertia.

The latter folks suggest that our Free Souls then used a Simulator to set the equivalent of our Karma in place.  I’m not sure that step is necessary, as our Birth chart provides plenty of raw material, and Resonance with extant Earth Energies provides the rest.  

It’s all Metaphor anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.  However, having more Perspectives gives us greater Resilience.  The six blind men all had different notions about the Elephant, but we approach “Reality” itself more closely when we see through the hands of all six blind men.  You can easily imagine that Relating to the Elephant will be a lot more effective than Relating to the Snake, the pillar, the fan, the spear, the rope, or the wall.

Sedna turns Retrograde around 8pm PST on 26 August, so now that we know what’s going on, the Energy should Lighten Up after that.  

With all the Blessings in the recent Full Moon chart, I assumed that the Disturbance was “just” Upper Limits.

(2) And now that I look at the rest of the Sedna-Station chart, hmmm, I guess it is Upper Limits!

Of course now that we know the Timing, between now and 8pm PST 26 August we’ll be taking full Advantage of this Opportunity to Learn more about how we Sabotage ourself, right?  It’s easier to Transcend our Unconscious Limits if we can manage to bring them into Consciousness.

(3) I’ll skip right to the Bottom Line.  You know those “random” ancient but oh-so crystal clear and emotionally loaded Memories you’ve been having?  Well, this is a direct Challenge for you to Manifest a different Outcome this time, one more in keeping with what you Want.

(4) It’s actually bigger than that, but that’s your Microscopic view of the Macrocosm – like the six blind men and the elephant, we all see the Universe through our own particular lens.  Chances are, the Memories you’ve been encountering have a lot to do with your Deepest Desire, hence with your Mission.  And of course your Mission is all about the Macrocosm, because the Macrocosm is a humongous jigsaw puzzle in Time and your Mission is one of the pieces.

(5) And it’s about how our place in the World will evolve over the next four hard years, as the old social and economic order falls away and is replaced (or not) by a wide range of new Opportunities – Opportunities which we ourselves ultimately Create.

Among the 1%, “Crisis Investing” is a popular trend.  The idea is to take any given Crisis – especially including the ones they helped to Create – and figure out how to make a fortune from it.  Imagine for instance if you’d cornered the market for Soup Kettles in 1929.  Or Epi Pens in 2008.  Or bombs in 1937.  We can translate this into taking any given Crisis, and figuring out how to use it to Transform the Planet and Her Denizens.

(1) Sedna is Stationary at 27 Taurus, Square (Mastery through Challenge) to Pallas (Boundaries).  

Also, Saturn Initiated Mars yesterday, at 10 Sagittarius, which represents the Symbols of Opportunity and Privilege – for females.  That should bode well for our PIAVAs over the next 19 months.  Mars-Saturn is about Focusing our Energy into The Most Important Thing, which can involve temporarily giving up what we Want to Focus on.

And, Mars went Out of Bounds (Strong) in early August, till the end of October.

Sedna’s Station makes a Trine Bridge across the Opposition between a Mercury-Venus-Jupiter Stellium and Chiron, which Opposition is T-Squared by Pholus-Quaoar and Lachesis-Ixion.  

That deserves a separate post.  

What it basically means is that the easiest way to Thrive over the next four years is to Lovingly Embrace your Fear and Anger now.

Along with the Mercury-Venus-Jupiter Stellium, the Sedna Station anchors the base of a Square Fez with Pallas and Pholus-Quaoar-Galactic Center (a Clear Dictate from HQ to Take Full Responsibility for the Survival of the Planet).  Meaning that the two primary Quincunxes are Sedna to Pholus-Quaoar (I Wonder if I’m ready to Surrender what’s not Necessary) and Pallas to Mercury-Venus-Jupiter (I Wonder if I’m prepared to Set Boundaries against my old Ego?) in Virgo (Ego Death).

(2) This isn’t the only reason, but the Saturn-Mars Initiation and a Mercury-Venus-Jupiter Stellium form the base of a Ceres (Sustainability) Quintile Yod (big Learning Opportunity).  If we expand our Sensitivity a little and add Pallas and Vesta (Unconscious Beliefs), we approach a Grand Quintile (Openness to Learning).  The Waning Jupiter-Saturn Quintile invites us to Learn about the Jupiter-Saturn Cycle (see #5 below).

(3) Mnemosyne (Memory) is also Stationary, turning Retrograde at 11am PDT on 30 August.  It’s Sextile to the ongoing Nessus-OR10 Conjunction (Eruption of Memories of Privilege or Abuse), which Sextile forms the base of a Makemake (Manifestation) Finger of God (Pay Attention!).

Mnemosyne also forms a Trine Bridge (the Easy Way) across the Opposition between the Sun and Nessus-OR10.  In other words the Memories will probably be a relatively easy way to Let Go of our PTSD, if we remember to Let them Go instead of Grasping them again.  Hint – Empathize with your Victim.  

(4) Mars and Saturn are just coming within Sensitivity for Squaring the Nodes.  Mars exactly Squares the Nodes on 29 August; Saturn crosses into 3-Degree Sensitivity on 27 August.

(5) We’ll get into the nitty-gritty of this soon.  It’s about Mercury Retrograding over Jupiter at the end of Virgo Opposing Chiron at the end of Pisces.  The Jupiter-Chiron Cycle is another Fresh Violets in an Ancient Pottery Bowl Cycle, like the Chiron-Neptune Cycle, as their respective Initiations Danced together.  So the Jupiter-Chiron Cycle serves the Chiron-Neptune Cycle, and the latter is about New Economic Paradigms.

We’ve talked about that a lot – see Chiron-Neptune in the list of Categories at right.  The Jupiter-Saturn Cycle puts us at the end of the Debriefing of the Industrial Era, where we’re descending into Disorder so the cauldron can be stirred and the New Social and Economic Order can emerge.

Several embellishments:

On 22 August Sappho (Self-Love) Initiated Venus (Heart, Values) at 22 Virgo, which is about Claiming One’s Royalty and Wealth.

On 26 August (3pm PDT) Orcus (Oath-Breaking and Guilt) Initiates Hopi (Respect for All Things) in 8 Virgo, which is about Opening to Learning/Remembering New Skills.

On 27 August Lachesis crosses Ixion (Changing the Timetable for the Liberation of our Repressed Genius); it’s a Confidence-Builder.  The Initiation occurred in February 2016 at 25 Sagittarius, which is about Playing at Competence.

On 16 September Jupiter (Expansion) Initiates Sappho (Self-Love) at 2 Libra, which is about Wisdom.  On 18 September Makemake Initiates Sappho, and on 19 September Makemake Initiates Jupiter, both at 3 Libra, which is about A New Day Dawning, with Everything Changed.  The Harvest Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on Chiron in Pisces will be held on 16 September.  On that day Varuna (the Life Force) moves into Leo, meaning perhaps the end of 23 years of concern about Health, and the beginning of 23 years of Playful Self-Love.

Venus, Mars, and Yintegrity

Venus is dancing with the 4 June New Moon, Mars is very busy, and of course Yintegrity is the bottom line here as we approach the 9 June Eris-Uranus Initiation.  If you haven’t been dancing with Rebirth of your Sexuality and Sensuality (Venus and Mars) yet, to bring it more in line with your Yintegrity, you’re probably overdue.  The Royal Star Regulus is still lit up, so be mindful that Revenge (Mars) may backfire.

Mars, after turning Retrograde at the Ides of April, reached it’s astrological Opposition to the Sun on 22 May, backed into Scorpio on 27 May, reached it’s cosmological Opposition to the Sun (closest approach to Earth in a decade) on 29 May, and turns Direct again on 29 June.  If you’re feeling or encountering a lot of bitchiness (as one reader calls it) or lack of Satisfaction (as Mick would call it), you can probably blame Mars.  Of course, if you’re being Victimized by Mars, we’d interpret that as a Denial of ______ [you’ll have to PIAVA how to fill in the blank; it’d be different for everyone].

Mars’s Shadow Period (span of Retrogradation) covers 24 Scorpio to 9 Sagittarius, the last two and-a-half Duads of Scorpio (adjustments to the Ego to Balance new Learnings) and the first three and-a-half Duads of Sagittarius (testing our New Ego in social settings).  Scorpio is about Fearlessly Digging Deep, and Sagittarius is about Letting  Go.  Mars entered its Shadow Period February 18.  So…

Whatever business it is that we haven’t finished and which we danced with in the last half of February, after we tried and failed to Let It Go over the last three months, it’s back.  YooHoo.  So now we have to immerse ourselves in it.  Locate it in our Body and just Be in that spot for a month.  Dr. Kim must have a good astrologer or good Intuition, because as it often is, her current message is right on…

The New Moon is very busy…

It’s in Gemini, Conjunct Venus, and it’s one corner of a Grand Cross with Saturn, Jupiter-North Node, and Neptune-South Node.  It’s also the head of a Kite, on a Saturn-Hopi-Mnemosyne Fire Grand Trine.  The Neptune-South Node corner of the Grand Cross is the head of a second Kite, on a Pluto-Jupiter/North Node-Aletheia Earth Grand Trine.  The Kites are connected by two Yods, to Hopi/Leo from Pluto-Neptune, and to Pluto/Capricorn from Hopi and the New Moon.

Stressful, but the Rewards for Surrendering Control and PIAVAing what you lack should be fabulous.  If they aren’t, PIAVA the next step – you may also need something else, you may need to go Deeper, or your mind may just be leading you into one of those blind Either/Or alleys.  You may need to Wonder what to PIAVA.  It could just be Patience.  We’re in the Soup till 9 June.  That doesn’t mean we have to Suffer, but it also means that perfect Comfort is likely to escape us.

The second, Jupiter-Neptune axis of the Grand Cross is malformed, as Jupiter does not really Oppose Neptune.  Jupiter recently backed up to within a Degree and-a-half of completing the Opposition, then changed its mind and went back the other way.  The real Opposition took place last September.  That Opposition was the Blooming of the very momentous Neptune-Jupiter and simultaneous Chiron-Jupiter Initiation, in May 2009, a prelude to the 2010 Neptune-Chiron Initiation.  All three of these Initiations occurred in 27 Aquarius, “An ancient pottery bowl filled with fresh violets.”  If you have the time, you might want to review “Chiron-Neptune” in the list of Categories at right.

These Fresh Violets are a Symbol we recognize, as the theme for the initially-alternate economy that is being formed as the dregs of the Industrial-Age economy limp into the Digital Age.  And we recognize the Chironean Despair that surrounded the recent Derivative Crisis (advertised by the corporate media as a “Subprime Loan” Crisis; this theme of making the Victims into Criminals is a trend that’s just starting).  

The Industrial-Age economic infrastructure that died in 2010 isn’t fixable; it will have to be replaced with “Fresh Violets,” but the bankers are stretching it out as long as they can because they’re getting rich off if it and hoping to make it into the 1% before it’s too late, and because the 1% haven’t figured out yet how to checkmate China and the other contenders (including us) as they plan their own new infrastructure. 

Eventually the alternate economy will go mainstream as the seed of the first Digital Age Survival strategy for the Analog portion of the 99%.  It’s about growing our own Food, trying to protect ourselves from the political corruption and poisoned Earth that Predatory Capitalism leaves almost everywhere on the Planet, creating local Community, adapting the portions of new technology that are accessible to us (such as 3D printing), and growing Resilience.  

We can probably safely assume that for most of us the future will look more like present-day Libya or Syria or the Palestinian dilemma, than the Sound of Music or the Gatsby.  One of the best handbooks for the alternate economy is probably Permaculture Magazine, and its new Western-Hemisphere spinoff.  The ancient Popular Mechanics is also surprisingly useful.

The fact that the Jupiter-Neptune axis of the Grand Cross does not complete suggests that…

This New Moon and its Grand Cross may unleash a lot of Paper Tigers – bundles of Fear that look like Monsters from our Karmic past.  If this is true, then there will likely be an economic feint (or faint) in June – the long-promised demise of the current economic shell game will appear to be happening, while its actual demise may be delayed until after the US elections.  The appearance of demise will probably be enough to bring us all face to face with our Survival Fears.

Other than knowing that we’re in the Void phase of the final Jupiter-Saturn Cycle of the Industrial Age, and that there will most likely be a Cultural component to this Eris-Uranus Revelation of Denial business (think Global Balming, Poverty, Predatory Capitalism, for-profit medicine), I haven’t looked at the rest of the year and decade yet astrologically.  I will soon.

The unfortunate Truth is that the 1% have become expert at “Crisis Investing,” which means taking maximum advantage of the Victims of any Crisis, the way W and his cronies did after Hurricane Katrina or 9/11 (see Naomi Klein’s Shock Doctrine or John Perkins’s New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man if you want to learn how that’s done – or just watch The Donald).  So whatever occurs on the Cultural or Global scale, we need to PIAVA that Huperity has reached a Tripping Point, and that Miracles are available to the Planet.  There is ample potential for that.

The New Moon is also the head of a Kite, on a Saturn-Hopi-Mnemosyne Fire Grand Trine.  The Neptune-South Node corner of the Grand Cross is the head of a second Kite, on a Pluto-Jupiter/North Node-Aletheia Earth Grand Trine.  The Kites are connected by two Yods, to Hopi/Leo from Pluto-Neptune, Hopi meaning Respect for All Things, and to Pluto/Capricorn from Hopi and the New Moon.  Fire and Earth form a potent Alchemical combination.

The New Moon is also Trioctile (Rebalancing) to the recent Lilith-Juno Initiation (“Around a campfire a group of young people sit in spiritual communion” – bringing Yindependence to the Edges of our Consciousness), which Initiation is in turn at the head of a Quintile Yod from Vesta and Chiron.

Our Choice Points are really whether to be in Despair about how our Unconscious Beliefs in Limitation have us shackled, or to be Willing to move toward Miracles by PIAVAing what we don’t believe is attainable – or perhaps that we don’t believe it’s attainable – and by Empathizing with what’s really going on.  “You poor Sweetheart, you’re really swimming in Self-Rejection here, aren’t you” for instance.  PIAVAs about trying to Heal our Despair by Changing External Reality will probably not work as well here; it’s an inside job.

The mindstuff that forms the content of our Anxieties is what needs to be jettisoned as soon as possible, so we can instead use our scarce Attention Resources to either focus directly on our Anxiety itself (for instance Tapping Out “Even though I feel very Worried, I deeply and completely Love and Accept myself”), or to go Deeper and begin to get Comfortable with the Real Feelings that our Anxiety is trying to hide from us (“I Wonder what Real Emotions are underneath my Anxiety, and how I might Heal their Source”).

This is the Gift of the Neptune-South Node Kite.

Kundalini Rising II

The Elves of Lily Hill Farm don’t mince words (Penny Kelly, p.191)…

“Humans are at the top of nature’s heap.  Ye humans need everything that’s in the heap under ye to support yer form of life.  But nothing in the heap needs that human at the top.  Ye humans are the most expendable of all – yet ye all think yer indispensable!  

“Picture the security of the human race right now as one lonely person riding a unicycle across a tightrope that is tied between two poles anchored in soup bowls floating on an ocean,  Yer position is tenuous – at best.”

But there be Hope (Genia Haddon, Body Metaphors, pp.108-9)…

“Neither participational consciousness [the original Matriarchy] nor differentiating objectivity [the Patriarchy] characterizes this third model.  It [the Age of the Yang Feminine – the Age of Lilith] encourages a ‘both-and’ way of looking at things.  Although uncommon in the Patriarchal Age, this sort of consciousness is sometimes experiened in mystical states or with the aid of psychedelic drugs.  

“A pair of opposites that are mutually exclusive as seen by patriarchal, differentiating consciousness are no longer contradictory when comprehended by mentation that simultaneously holds awareness of various levels or orders of wholes.  In other words, this is a style of consciousness that is attentive to varying contexts and can shift from one to another, or even hold several in awareness simultaneously [Castaneda’s ‘Cognitive Dissonance’].

“In such a system, we should expect to experience life as multivalent rather than focused, contextually transformative rather than goal oriented.  Within the gestative system [Matriarchy], movement was contained and cyclic.  The metaphor for progress was natural, vegetative proliferation and succession of seasons.  Phases succeeded one another in a repeating pattern, like a circle, or like the snake biting its tail.  

“In the phallic system, movement is goal oriented and linear, like a arrow.  Progress is pictured as ascent achieved through competition and mastery.  In the exertive [Yang Feminine] system, movement is to be rooted in context and emerging out of it, like a spiral or helix … [in which] interleaved ascending and descending coils suggest the contexting of ‘opposites’ within a larger whole that retains their distinctions, yet transcends their opposition [the ‘Coin’].”

“In an Age reflecting the nature of the exertive womb [Yang Feminine] rather than the phallus, property ownership and exploitation would simply cease to be meaningful concepts, based as they are on patriarchal principles of separating out and power over.  It is beyond my capacity to picture concretely such a world based on exertive-world principles of egalitarian networks, contextual transformation, and holistic transcendence.  

“To appreciate how alien exertive-womb principles still are, try to imagine what sort of pattern would replace ‘ownership’ of animal pets by ‘masters’ in an age in which the dominant motif is no longer hierarchical. … These are the watchwords: context, egalitarian, transformation, multiple wholes, self-transcendence, non-uniform multiplicity, both-and simultaneity without loss of distinctions, network.”

Here’s an example of Both/And/And-that-too, from Robert Moss’s Dreaming True pp290-1…

“The philosopher of Science Thomas Kuhn observed that we get a paradigm shift when the accumulation of ‘anomalies’ forces the abandonment of old scientific paradigms and the adoption of new ones.  Dream journalists can contribute mightily to the emergence and understanding of new paradigms in science” by, for instance…

• “Case studies of interactive dreaming that will provide mutually confirming evidence that consciousness is never confined to the brain.
• “Documented and witnessed reports of dream precognition, telepathy, and other psi phenomena that will establish that these are entirely natural events and that our everyday experience is not the only engagement with time and space that is possible.
• “Serial dreams in which we return to locales where we seem to be leading a continuous life as our present selves, but with some different elements in the scene.  For example: we may be married to a different person, living in a different town, following a different line of work.  Serial dreams of this type may provide strong experiential evidence for the ‘parallel universes’ hypothesis.
• “Serial dreams in which we enter the situation or perspective of people living in other times or dimensions who are clearly not our familiar selves.  These experiences may be suggestive of our connectedness, in our multidimensional identity, with a vast family of consciousness in many time periods and frequency domains.”

The Eclipse Grand Cross is tight, spanning only three Degrees, 17-19 of the Mutable Signs (Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius, Gemini).

In general, Angles between planets that are less than three Degrees apart can be considered to have a strong impact on the Present Moment.  Angles between planets that are less than eight Degrees apart will have less effect on the Present Moment, but will have profound impact on any project or Entity or Identity that is born at the time.  

“Orb” is the astrological term for the inexactitude of interplanetary Angles, but we prefer “Sensitivity” because how responsive we are to the Angles depends on how Sensitive we are to Energy.  The average Muggle might be hard-pressed to detect one Degree of Orb, while a Sensitive person could feel the impact of eight or ten Degrees even in the Present Moment.  We’ll all be much more Sensitive to any current-moment Angle that mirrors an Angle in our Natal chart.

Because we use many more planets, asteroids, dwarfs, and Centaurs than traditional astrology, for birth charts we try to keep our Attention directed toward Angles that are less than five Degrees apart.  Because we expect most of our readers to be Sensitive to Energy, we often use five degrees for Present-Moment charts as well.

Exceptions arise when Angles adjoin one another.  For instance, the Total Solar Eclipse occurs at 19 Degrees of Pisces, two Degrees from Chiron at 21 Degrees, and three Degrees from the South Node at 22 Degrees.  But Ceres sits at 16 Degrees, three Degrees on the other side of the Eclipse.  So we have a choice: we can interpret Eclipse-Chiron-South Node and Eclipse-Ceres as two distinct relevant Energies, or we can read Ceres-Eclipse-Chiron-South Node as one Stellium and one Energy.  To be thorough, we should do both, that is, read all three.

So now we’ve stretched from 17-19 Degrees to 16-22 Degrees, sevan Degrees of Separation.  Still well within traditional astrology’s span for a birth chart.  Lilith is also at 22 Degrees, so this allows our Grand Trine and Kite, since Pallas, like Saturn, is at 17 Degrees.  Haumea is very Conjunct Lilith, but at 24 Degrees.  We can’t ignore Haumea’s promise to Rebirth Lilith, but this brings us to 17-24 Degrees, and 16-24 if we  include Ceres, which is hard to exclude when the Ceres-Saturn Square is only half a Degree from being Exact.  While this seems like way too much slop for Present-Moment consideration, we can’t ignore the interconnections.

So far we have involved planets in Pisces (Ceres-Eclipse-Chiron-South Node), Aquarius (Pallas), Sagittarius (Saturn), Libra (Lilith-Haumea), Virgo (Jupiter-North Node), and Gemini (Chaos).  Uranus-Eris at 19-23 of Aries makes our Kite into five-sixth of a Grand Sextile, and the asteroid Klotho at 17 Leo completes it.

Klotho is one of the “Fates” – Klotho cuts the fabric from which Lifetimes are woven, Lachesis measures out the length of a Lifetime, and Atropos cuts the chord when that length is reached.  Their mother Moirai completes the foursome.  

It’s important to remember that Fate and Free Will, as a Duality, cannot be properties of the Universe at Large, as the Universe at Large is Multifarious.  Duality does happen to be a signal property of the Observing Human mind, however, so we interpret Fate as a philosophical issue, not an Existential issue.  It is striking, though, how often astrology seems to Teach us about what’s going on, as if our Co-Creations have long been mapped out by the Stars, as if the best outcome we could hope for from a Lifetime would be an Oscar.

We’re fond of saying that if we use Senses and Skills beyond the intellect, or if we desire to peer into the Unconscious, there is no Contradiction, only Paradox.  In most cases that’s giving the mind more credit than it deserves, but it’s certainly a valid Perspective.  So we could profitably view the Question of Fate and Free Will as a Paradox.  In fact, we can even look at it through Genia’s Yang-Feminine Perspective as a case of “both-and simultaneity without loss of distinctions”!  

How handy.  We’re being Rebirthed into the Yang-Feminine Age as we speak!  

We don’t usually think of Klotho as a heavy hitter, but completing a Grand Sextile gets our Attention, particularly with Haumea Rebirthing Lilith.  The combination means that…

This is a particularly germinal time for building foundations for our Role in the New “Fresh Violets in an Ancient Pottery Bowl” Culture that we’re Co-Creating.

Big revisions to our Cultural Zeitgeist were promised by the 2009 Neptune-Chiron Initiation, “Fresh Violets in an Ancient Pottery Bowl,” which we consider to be the astrological correlate of the Derivative Crisis that the Lizards quite successfully spun as a Mortgage-Deadbeat Crisis.  Genia’s comments are validation for what we’ve been talking about in this regard.

In a significant way, we’re “cutting the cloth” this month for our New economic and ecologic Persona.  We’ve suggested that major Commitments are better delayed till after June’s Eris-Uranus Initiation, since we can expect to meet whole new elements of ourselves then, but if we Trust our Knowing, there is a lot of preparatory work we can be doing that doesn’t involve firm Commitment.  And while New Moons are generally considered to impact the following two to four weeks, Eclipses are usually given a longer span of influence, often nine months.  So if we pinned on the Pattern this month, and wielded our pinking shears in July, we’d be in good stead.

Kelley Hunter usually reads the more traditional astrological symbols, while I stray into all manner of questionable nooks and crannies, so it’s particularly validating when the two of us walk down the same lane.  Her readings have been more mundane than mine of late, so we haven’t been linking to her newsletter.  On the other hand, she literally “wrote the books” on Lilith, and few folks are more in touch with the evolving Age of Lilith than she.  Her reading for this Eclipse mirrors ours, but of course as always adding much of note…

So we regard this Eclipse chart as a legitimate Grand Sextile, in addition to the Kite, Grand Trine, and Grand Cross – very Powerful.  The nature of a Sextile is Grace, as long as we provide the initial impetus to kickstart the process.  A Grand Sextile is about processes that feed on themselves and become virtuous cycles, like Genia’s interleaving helixes.  We may even be able to kickstart one of the Sextiles and watch it activate the other five!  Let’s talk about that in another installment.

I don’t want to leave this train of thought without bringing Pluto into the picture.  Pluto, at 18 Capricorn, Sextiles the Eclipse, and this Sextile forms the base of a Finger of God pointing directly at Klotho.  So it’s a good thing we included Klotho.  It doesn’t pay to ignore Pluto, or Eclipses.

Pluto represents that which Cannot Be Ignored.  I think of Pluto as a Powerful River, not in Space but in Time.  Paddling our canoe upstream is not an option; we’ll simply get pulled backwards into the rapids, if not the falls.  We need to ride this River downstream.  We can, however, steer toward one bank or the other, camp on an island, and since we can see where we’re going, pull out to portage around the falls.

The Klotho Finger of God tells us to Pay Attention Now to the way we’re designing the New Life that we’re Rebirthing for the Age of Lilith, to make sure that our New Life flows with the current and not against it.  The Eclipse-Ceres Conjunction reinforces this Directive, Asking us to Attend to Sustainability here.  

And to the other side of the Sustainability Coin, Sustenance – which means Letting Go of what’s no longer necessary – especially our Limiting Beliefs, which will be illuminated brightly for us with the Eclipse (which provides Illumination by showing us what it’s like without what we take for granted) on the South Node (which harbors our Held Emotions).  Penny Kelly spends about 90% of her book describing how difficult it was to Let Go of all the Resistance she had to Receiving Insight from The Elves of Lily Hill Farm.

The keystone in this Drama is the Initiation of Moirai, mother of the Fates, by Pluto on 10 March, at 18 Capricorn, “The Union Jack flag flies from a British warship.”  Rudhyar’s interpretation, “Protection provided by institutions in charge of maintaining order,” reeks of the Patriarchy, as Rudhyar’s roots were deep in European traditions.  

Our interpretation springs instead from the 1/1/2000 Initiation of Chiron by Pluto, “A flag turning into an Eagle, turning into a Chanticleer heralding the Dawn.”  The flag represents the old Loyalist status quo Ego, the Eagle the wide, inclusive Perspective of the Yang Feminine, and the Dawn of course the EnLightenment that follows.

So now we’re tossed back into the “Paradox” of Fate and Free Will with a renewed sense of Importance.  It would probably be quite accurate to say that astrology shows us our Fate if we proceed Unconsciously.  If we interpret the Squares to the Eclipse negatively, we’d Expect that because the Eclipse will cause us to freeze like a Deer in the headlights because there are too many Choices (Chaos), we’ll find our Future to be severely Limiting (Saturn).  

And I imagine that this will be an apt description of the Future confronting many of the Muggles that still suffer under the Illusion that their employer and their government have their interest at Heart, as the propaganda machine continues to work overtime to keep them convinced.  Ask your doctor if Climate Change Denial is good for you, it should say.  Ask your doctor if Globalization is good for you.  Ask your doctor if Glyphosate-saturated, mineral-deficient food-like substances are good for you.  If Death occurs, tell your doctor immediately and discontinue use.

I’m sure it’s an apt description for the poor blokes who’ve just been trying to survive the Drought and Turmoil in the Middle East, and for the Greeks being trampled by the results, after being wrung out by the Vulture Capitalists and Multinational Patriarchs running the EU.  We may not be able to divert the Pluto River, but we do have the option to Respond Consciously to the currents, to recognize that The Most Important Thing (Saturn) confronting us is Making Choices to steer our Unlimited Future (Chaos) in directions that promote our Deepest Desires and further our Mission in the Lifetime (Jupiter-North Node).

Boundaries and Adivasi

In Edargorter (https://astrobuss.wordpress.com/2016/01/03/edargorter/), because it seemed to be one of the more unique news items of the Mercury-over-Pluto-Pallas Can-Opener, we suggested that the recovery of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket would be back in the news in mid-January, when the Mercury-Pluto-Pallas Exposition occurred.  Sure enough, SpaceX is planning another launch and recovery, this time again on an ocean barge, for this coming weekend.  This is about stretching the Boundaries of our Thought-Space, kind of another Atlantean Wilbur-and-Orville-Wright moment.

Who Have I Become?

That’s today’s question, with Uranus Stationary and turning Direct at 8pm PST ( http://www.jbuss.com/tt/pst20.htm ) on 25 December.  We’ve been wrestling with all manner of Demons and Daemons, most of which have proven to be imaginary (which unfortunately makes them no less profound), for the last many months.  We’ve only had time to deal with each Present Moment as it has passed, as Change has tumbled down upon us and we’ve struggled to find the Means and the Courage to Change what we know we must, the Serenity to Accept what we don’t seem to be able to Change, and the Wisdom to figure out which is which without totally burning ourselves out.  Now we come up for air, and we’re met with this Big Question, 

Who Have I Become? 

We’ve Changed, and now we get a week to figure out how, to figure out Who We’ve Become!

Uranus turned Retrograde in late July, backing over 21-17 Aries.  If you have any natal planets in 17-21 of the Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), your Uranus Can-Opener occurred in April-to-July, and Exposition in August-to-December; your Confidence-Builder is scheduled for January-March 2016.  Those natal planets will tell you a lot about Who You’ve Become.  17-21 is the Scorpio Duad of Aries; we’ll have been adding embellishments to Version 3.1 of our Lifetime Creation, and Diving Deep to locate obstacles to its progress.

For the last year our noses have been rubbed in Sustainability and Sustenance.  As of this morning, that pulse is finished, and won’t return until mid-2017.  Let’s hope the efforts to stem Climate Change, such as they are, won’t stall out in the interim.  

Dwarf planet Ceres (Sustainability) has been Out of Bounds (Strong) since just after Christmas of 2014.  It’s now back In Bounds until July-through-mid-September 2017.  Even if it’s less pronounced for the next year and a half, it was still Rising (Coming into Awareness) everywhere on the Planet on 1/1/2000, making it the bellwringer for the Century.

We still expect the second half of this decade to be economically challenging for most folks, so I don’t recommend that we reduce our Attention to Sustainability and its partner Sustenance.  Sustenance – eliminating the unnecessary – is an important part of Sustainability.  Here’s a very nice series of short videos to help us stay on track – on No-Dig, Forest Gardens, Soil Regeneration, Foraging, for instance…

The Digital Age, with all its disruption and restructuring, doesn’t start in earnest till 2020 (after Saturn next Initiates Jupiter).  Alternative Culture (the Fresh Violets in an Ancient Pottery Bowl Chiron-Neptune Cycle) is still in its infancy, though I hope you’re personally already deep into it.  And the Developed Nations haven’t even begun to dig themselves out of the mess that bloomed in the 2007 Derivatives Crisis – the Megacorps are much Too Bigger to Fail, and the Derivative load (leveraged bets on the outcome of earlier bets, stacked up in a house of cards) is many times larger.  The Lizards successfully blamed the 2007 Crisis on “deadbeat mortgagees” so you wouldn’t notice them transferring unmeasurable wealth from you and your children to themselves, and they’re setting up to blame the next Crisis on “deadbeat carbuyers and students” so they can repeat the process.  

If you haven’t read Naomi Klein’s Shock Doctrine, which explains the Lizards’ methodology very clearly, please do read it so you can explain it to everyone you know; I meet few people who understand how we’re being scammed, and it won’t stop till most people understand it.  They’ll exploit the next big Climate-Crisis storm the same way they exploited New Orleans in 2005.  The oddsmakers, who are much more prescient than the polls or the for-sale media, give Hilary Clinton a 75%-or-so chance of becoming the next President of the US (they give Donald “the T is silent” Trump* and the other Repos about 10%, and Bernie about 4%), which means business as usual for the New (Corporate) World Order.

But, why do we only have a week to figure out Who We’ve Become?  Actually, it doesn’t much matter, because we’ll be someone else entirely by July (after Eris Initiates Uranus), so it’s only a brief moment of Stillness.  Several hours before the New Year here – half past 5pm PST ( http://www.jbuss.com/tt/pst17.htm ) – the dwarf planet Makemake turns Retrograde.  Makemake is about Manifestation, as its name suggests.  So for most of this week we’ll be focused more on 

What Am I Going to Create with (or for) my New Self?

than on Who Have I Become.  You’re probably already mulling this over.  You may not even have stopped to notice how Different you are now than you were six months ago.  It might not be a bad idea to give some Attention to the Who question over the next several days, lest you address the What question from the perspective of your Old Self, if your mind or Emotions haven’t caught up yet.  By Monday or Tuesday, it’d be an excellent time to review your PIAVA techniques…

Pick out a few simple short-term Manifestations, something you can create in an hour or so (like finding the shovel you haven’t seen since August), and a few specific PIAVA techniques to practice on.  Then, by Wednesday and Thursday, you’ll be ready for some Big-Time Manifestation Efforts.  You’ll have figured out Who You Are and What You Want Now, and you can go for it.  A planet is at its Strongest when it’s Stationary, so Peak Power runs from now till your equivalent of late afternoon Friday PST.  If you can spend Friday in Meditation, Feeling exactly the way you’re going to Feel once you’ve Manifested that Big Dream, you’ll be Golden.  Stay flexible; this is just one Station of the Tokaido, so don’t lock yourself in.  If you feel like you have to make a Decision, Choose Both/And and let the Universe show you how it can Make a Miracle.

Makemake – which is Out of Bounds – will Retrograde across 3-1 Degrees of Libra, the Libra Duad, Double Libra.  If you have planets in these first degrees of the Cardinal Signs, you’ve been doing the Can-Opener since September.  For instance, on a friend’s recommendation I bought the books Search Inside Yourself by Chade-Meng Tan and The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker, just as Makemake was crossing my early-Libra planet.

This is about Manifesting an entirely new way of relating to other people, even of relating to Other, or Not-I, in general.  Even your Witnessing, your Chironean Empathy process, is a Not-I process, where you’re consciously moving your Assemblage Point, even if only in a small way, to subtly vary Who You Are moment-to-moment.  Your Emotion is still part of You in those moments, but it’s no longer where your Ego is embedded – it becomes Other, even as it remains You.  Lots of potential fun here – you can Witness yourself Witnessing yourself, for instance.  This is not an idle exercise; in an important situation, where exactly you park your Observer can change the Outcome drastically.

There is likely to be more Honesty and less Guile, though we will quickly Learn to be Honest Charmingly.  When the Unexpected pops out of you, don’t try to suppress it or apologize; instead, put your Efforts into Integrating it with the rest of who you Believe yourself to Be.  You’ll probably recognize that these Surprises are more Authentically You than you had intended.  Embrace it and Celebrate the loss of the Masks.

The Makemake Station is Squared by the ongoing Chariklo-Hylonome Conjunction, which is about Grieving the Loss of our former Charm, and/or Enjoying Freedom from an Archetype we’ve been laboring under, Walking in Beauty instead.  It’s Quincunx to 2007 OR10 (the Unexpected that’s really our Deeper Self); it would behoove to “Wonder what’ll happen next!”  It’s Trine Mercury and Sextile Venus, making a tidy little knot between Libra an Pisces.

November II – Let My Money Go

We can consider Wondering What Mask Will Go Next to be “November I”…

That described our Adventures in Self-Knowing, Self-Empathy, and, if we do it “right,” Curiosity and Wonder; this extends till November 10.   We have several other interesting processes going on early in the month as well.  Then things get pretty busy Mid-month.  We get to meet a couple more of the new dwarf planets up close and personal, though we’ll have to squint to distinguish their influence from our more familiar planetary friends, as the events pile up on one another.   The Galaxy is still handing down some pretty firm instructions that if we want to jet-propel our happy Survival in the Future, we need to Let Go of what we don’t really need, especially Beliefs that no longer serve us, and Identities based on Privilege, but “stuff” too.  This Energy will be with us for the rest of the year.

The Quaoar-Chariklo-Hylonome (Survival Rules-Beauty and Charm-Ego Death) Stellium on the Galactic Center (Headquarters) is still T-Squaring (Mastery through Challenge) the Nodes (Linear Time), with Vesta (Unconscious Beliefs) sitting on the South Node (our Habituation) and Makemake (Manifestation) on the North (our Destiny, should we choose to accept it).

Some big Relationship Transformation are upon us, especially our Relationships with our Self, as Fear subsides and we realize that we could leap into Infinite Impossibility by taking more Responsibility for our Pathological Genius.  If we don’t jump at this opportunity in the first few days of the month, New Information may arrive by the end of the first week to catapult us out of our Lazy-Boy.  If you missed our recent article on Pathological Genius, look under “Path…” in the “Categories” column to the right; it’s a loaded term that you don’t want to misinterpret.

Venus and Mars (Heiros Gamos, or Union of the Inner Lad and Inner Lass) Conjoin on 2 November.  It’s not an Initiation or Can-Opener; that occurred last spring, and Venus is just catching up to Mars after her Descent of Inanna.  The Cycle is 2 Aries, “A comedian reveals human nature: The capacity to look objectively at oneself and other.”  They aren’t alone in their Lovebed (Your mother’s ghost stands at your shoulder, but Ixion is involved, so you know somebody’s going to break the rules): the Conjunction T-Squares the Opposition between Chaos (Unlimited Potential) and Pholus-Ixion (Responsibility-Rascal), and Trines Sedna (Action Taken out of Fear).

The Venus-Chaos and Mars-Chaos Cycles are at their Waxing Squares, or the place where they become permanent.  Venus-Chaos is “A large archaic volume reveals a traditional wisdom” (19 Gemini, April 2015) and the Mars-Chaos Cycle is about “A modern cafeteria displays an abundance of food, products of many regions” (20 Gemini, June 2015).  Great to have that option, but Eating Local is more Sustainable.  The Squares to Pholus-Ixion are Waning – Water under the bridge.  We’ve already invested our Passions in our Pathological Genius; now it’s time to sit still and watch what happens.  Meanwhile, more swingers want in…

On 6 November (while Venus crosses the North Node and lights up the Nodal T-Square), Haumea (Rebirth) Opposes Eris (Revelation of Denial – Epiphany if you’re open to it).  This isn’t a Can-Opener either; that occurred last November – keep a journal?  These two will dance together till the end of the decade.  Venus-Mars makes a Quincunx Bridge (Curiosity helps a lot) to this Opposition, and the two Oppositions (Haumea to Eris and Chaos to Pholus-Ixion, the base of the Venus-Mars T-Square) create a Golden Rectangle (Graceful Integration of the Dichotomies).  That is, Chaos Trines Haumea (we could be reborn as anything we Want – or anything we worry too much about if we Choose Anxiety over Intention) and Pholus-Ixion Trines Eris (the New Information is likely to permit – or force – us to Take Responsibility for our Pathological Genius).

This isn’t just another realignment with your paramour.  It’s a major Initiation into the Alternate Culture that will parallel Vulture Capitalism as it rides off into the Sunset with all the Money.  If we substitute a return to Community, Letting the Money Go could be a huge blessing.  The Money Economy might feel the Abandonment around 6 November.

Meanwhile, the Jupiter-Chiron Opposition Can-Opener is exact.  The Jupiter-Chiron Cycle is a powerful one.  The Initiation was May 2009 at 27 Aquarius, “Fresh violets in an ancient pottery bowl,” simultaneous with the famous Chiron-Neptune Opposition (look up “Chiron-Neptune” in the “Categories” if you haven’t been following us for years; this is Big) and with both Chiron and Neptune Standing Still.

When a planet Stands Still (aka is Stationary), it’s at the peak of its Power.  

Imagine Zeus (Jupiter) kneeling with head bowed while the God of the Unconscious Sea places his trident on one of Zeus’s shoulders, and the Ultimate Healer places one hoof on the other shoulder.  It’s as if the Patriarchy was swearing an oath to serve the Goddess’s generals.  This is a preliminary blooming of this development.

Let’s review briefly just to remind how Big this is.  The current Jupiter-Chiron event is a preliminary peak of the much larger Chiron-Neptune Cycle.  Chiron-Neptune Cycles are about Despair and Miracles in the Cultural Unconscious.  The current Cycle began with the Derivatives Crisis of 2007-8 (which the 1% and it’s lapdog media successfully blamed on the Victims of the 1%’s Greed).  The previous Cycle began on the very day that Japan surrendered at the end of World War II.  The end of War created a major Economic disruption, as combatants sought civilian employment, and Arms manufacturers sought alternative markets – the explosives became the artificial fertilizers and the poison gases became the pesticides and pharmaceuticals that have since shortened your lifespan.  The Cycle prior to that was Initiated when much-oversold bonds that financed the US transcontinental railroads collapsed.  It began what was then called the Great Depression, which was renamed the Long Depression in order to honor the Greatness of the Depression of the 1930s.  It lasted from 1890 till World War I.

Nodes, Squares, Interesting Movie Reviews

“I would like to add my tuppence ha’penny as a Libra North Node with Saturn squaring the Nodes – working with a partner who has Venus squaring their Nodes.  Firstly – I read in Patricia L Walsh’s book on past lives that she explained Jeff Green’s thinking which mystified me (his books on Pluto vol 1 and 2) – that the planet squaring the nodes means you are working both the mission and the past lives in this life – I interpret this as a dance – sometimes you need to bring forward the skills from the past, sometimes you need to concentrate on the mission.  

“For me, Jan Spiller says Libra NN is about being supportive and you wouldn’t believe how incredibly difficult is has been for me to get my head around that.  I have been independent and headstrong – and it has cost me relationships.  I don’t regret any of it, but I had to read her chapter on the Nodes several times to really take on board the flaws as well as the skills.  

“As for Uranus, when it crossed my south node 4 years ago it was very disruptive but I was tracking it and welcomed the changes which involved a new job and moving house.  If my maths is right, my vacancy is 2 cancer which is something about a magic carpet and a lovely balance to responsible Saturn – and may explain why I have never ever felt terribly responsible!”

In some parts of the World, “maths” really is singular.  In my take on the Mystery, we need both of our Nodes.  In order to accomplish our Mission, we need the Hidden Skills that are buried beneath the Held Emotions that the South Node signifies.  So in the “Hero’s Journey” we have to confront all of our worst Fears.  The Heroine’s Journey adds the need to confront Tradition.

It was four Degrees off, but Ceres (Sustainability) did T-Square yesterday’s Full Moon, while it Trine-Bridges the Nodes.  And have we noticed that the Nodes are T-Squared by the Pallas-Pholus-Hylonome-Quaoar Stellium?  That means that apart from the Crossbow we detailed earlier, the Full Moon was also characterized by a Nodal T-Square Trine-Bridged by Ceres.  When the same planet (here Ceres) is the Focus of one T-Square (the Full Moon) and Bridges a second T-Square (to the Nodes), this is a very important planet.

This is a Confidence-Builder crossing for the Initiation of the Pallas-Quaoar and Pallas-Pholus Cycles, but Hylonome Initiates Pallas tomorrow – another “coincidence,” eh?  The Initiations…

“Her father had detailed a long arduous journey to this river.  She got here quicker than it used to take her to get to the berry patch behind her village.  This can’t be the right place, she tells herself, I got her too fast.  She might ask someone for advice, but her father warned her to trust no one for directions.  So she retraces he steps and returns to her father’s tree.  He tells he right away she make no mistake; she was exactly on track.  ‘You are coming into your own power,’ her father tells her.  ‘Time and space will work differently now.’  He does not tell her – it is something we must find out for ourselves – that if she were to put her mind to it fully, she could travel from the Talking Tree to the Tree of Life in a single bound.”  (ibid, p.92)

How will it feel in your Body when you are the Master Creator of your own Lifestream?  Even as the rest of the Planet descends into Feudalism.  If no one is Free until we’re All Free?  What’s the Coin here?

The Great Work of Our Time

Excerpts from “The Great Work of Our Time,” by John Liu, in Permaculture, Autumn 2015, pp.4-8…

“Right now, the funds needed to address climate change are swirling in a vortex of highly paid consultants who endlessly debate what to do.  This financial capital needs to flow to the individual and the collectivised farmers, gardeners, and landscape restorers who, through their efforts to increase soil carbon, increase the height of vegetative canopies and protect biodiversity, are leading our species’ efforts to mitigate and adapt to human induced climate change.  Imagine what we could do if we engaged people worldwide in restoring the Earth’s ecological function?”

“A significant and growing number of people are teaching themselves and others how to grow biologically healthy diverse soils rich in organic matter.  They are learning that increases in organic material and microbiologic communities in the soil also retain vastly more moisture, especially when constantly covered by perennial vegetative growth.  These same people are learning to grow closed canopy, multi-story polyculture food forests.  These perennial systems align human systems with nature and have an entirely different result than continuing to practice neolithic agriculture or our current toxic industrialised agricultural model.”

“We cannot erode the fertility and hydrological regulation, and kill the microbial communities that build the Earth’s living soils, and expect to have more productivity.  You may have short-term gains from artificial inputs, but over the long term you collapse the system and have nothing.”

“Acknowledging what is real also means turning our backs on what is false.  We are the end of an era that will be known mainly for its waste, pollution, materialism, wanton violence and foolish addiction to fossil fuels.  It can be frightening to change but, when you think about what we are leaving behind, change can be seen to be a very good thing.  We need to change so many things.  This is our chance.  Not only can we address climate change and make our food systems healthier and more resilient, we can and must remake human society and economy to be fair for everyone.  This is being recognised and this knowledge can empower people all over the world, engaging their creativity and giving their lives meaning.

“As the endgame of this unsustainable era plays out, many people are standing on the sidelines.  Their intelligence, imagination, energy and abilities are needed to move to the next level in human consciousness.”
