The second-most Dominant Configuration in the Pholus-Station chart (see previous post) is the T-Square (the solitary red triangle). It focuses on Ceres-Aletheia (Facing the Truth about What Is and What Isn’t Sustainable – and Letting Go of the Rest) from the Opposition between Uranus-Eris (The End of Denying our Soul Self) and Jupiter-Haumea (Big Rebirth).
Unlike a Grand Cross, a T-Square is not In Balance. Consequently, we usually Experience T-Squares as Frustration, even as we’re actually studying their complex Interactions in great detail. Floridians and denizens of the Caribbean are certainly Facing the Truth about What Is and What Isn’t Sustainable and Letting Go of the Rest, though it will probably Feel more like Sturm und Drang, literally, if they aren’t realizing that it’s part of their personal Big Rebirth and an ideal Opportunity to Stop Denying the Primacy of their Soul Self.
The rest of us get to do the same vicariously, which may be part of why Irma is so much more compelling than Harvey was. Harvey hit in the middle of a Juno-Saturn-Sedna Station grouping – The Most Important Thing Was Becoming Conscious of Fear, while Irma arrives amidst Pholus-Quaoar Stations on the Galactic Center with Lilith and Ixion – Responding to Threats to Global Survival by Embracing Our Self-Sovereignty and Nurturing Our Unique Genius. Of course Harvey sensitized us, and unlike Irma, we didn’t have a week’s notice that Harvey was coming, nor how devastating it would be.
Harvey was about the potential to Suddenly Drown in our Emotions (too much Water), while Irma is about the potential to be Chronically Overwhelmed by Anxiety or Planning (too much Wind) instead of Trusting our Instincts and Intuition. Meanwhile the astrological advice is to pay attention to our Spiritual Relationship to the Planet – the Emphases on Recovering our Forbidden Genius, Focusing our Concentration, Responding Consciously, and Attending to our Survival Instincts (Ixion, Saturn, Pholus, and Quaoar Stations) were/are all about Letting Go of Limitations to Spirit (in Sagittarius), while Becoming Conscious of Fear and Expanding our Consciousness in General (Sedna and Juno Stations) were about our Attachment to, and our Grounding in, Matter (in Taurus and Capricorn).
The fact that the Earthquake struck a very “poor” area of southern Mexico during the buildup to the Pholus-Quaoar (-Galactic Center-Ixion-Lilith) Stations suggests two things. The first is that we as a species need to pay more Attention to Equality, and the second is that we need to seriously upgrade our Respect for Indigenous Wisdom. I don’t know whether the pronouncement of Chiapas and Oaxacha as “poor” was the result of malfunctioning Indigenous Survival Instincts because of Climate Change or overpopulation (relative to carrying capacity and agricultural skills) in Chiapas and Oaxacha, or because the European/American Perspective still views the Indigenous as “poor savages.”
Hurricane Katia is impacting the state of Veracruz most severely, with both Water and Wind, though not as intensely as either Harvey or Irma. GDP (for what that’s worth) in Oaxacha is 30%, and in Chiapas 35%, of that in Veracruz. GDP measures economic churn rather than the actual Value of economic activity – Harvey and Irma will be “Great” for GDP, assuming that the Antichrist can find enough Mexicans and other Hispanics willing to rebuild Texas and Florida.
We Complete a T-Square (make it into a Balanced Grand Cross) by Consciously contributing the Energy of the Degree Opposite the Focal planet, or “Vacancy.” Here, that’s 25 Capricorn. “A store filled with precious Oriental rugs.” We recently had a store filled with Precious Gems; now Precious Rugs. The original Cultural Function of Precious Oriental Rugs, with their hundreds of stitches per inch, was to keep Sand out of their Living Space.
Persians Lived in the Desert, frequently nomadically, in tents. The Bright colors and patterns of their Rugs enlivened their quarters while insulating them from a constant diet of Sand, though actually, each grain of that Sand is actually a tiny Quartz Crystal – a Precious Gem. Try looking at Sand through a microscope. That’s why they call Sandpaper what they call it. But your Coffee, or your Dami and Chenje, is not the right place for tooth-chipping or -grinding Quartz.
So in their original use, Precious Oriental Rugs were not at all Luxury items. The Degree Reinforces the Ceres-Aletheia Focus, with the added Design Feature of Beauty and Grace. So we’re being Reborn into a Space where Functionality and Self-Expression are primary, and Good Design is also very important.

At this point we have to peak ahead a bit, as the two planets at the focus of the T-Square Conjoin on 13 September 2017 (8pm PDT), when Aletheia/Truth Initiates Ceres/Sustainability and begins a new 27-year Cycle. Truth, with Aletheia’s 5.6-year orbit, is the Guru here, while Sustenance is the Follower with Ceres’s 4.6 year orbit. Again we encounter European/American Colonial bias, as the word “Sustenance” is generally taken to mean “barely surviving” (naked savages again) while it actually means Living in a Manner that’s Difficult to Tax, by using usually-Indigenous Wisdom to take our Food and Shelter directly from the Landscape and Seascape, in a normally-Resilient and -Sustainable manner.
The new Cycle is Initiated at 27 Cancer, tellingly a Degree about “A violent storm in a canyon filled with expensive homes.” Rudhyar’s interpretation is “A confrontation with a social upheaval demanding the reconsideration of static values.” In other words, as all Climate non-Deniers know, this is a trend, and while America may not be so “Great!” in the future, it may be more Sustainable.
The Reliability of any Perspective can be measured by its ability to measure or predict Outcomes. For instance, in a more environmentally sensitive era several decades back, the US government tried to start protecting public land a little from decimation by cattle grazing on it for near-zero rents. Western ranchers, in a fit of keep-your-government-hands-off-of-my-God-Given-Privileges, came up with a theory that Vegetation would not grow if Cows (or other Ungulates) weren’t out there churning up the Soil with their hooves.
As modern carbon farming has demonstrated, there’s a grain of Truth to this notion, as grazing can impact what grows because of trampling, though mostly because of manuring. In the Desert West, however, making that work would require much more intensive management, and fewer cows, than sending the whole herd up the mountain in the spring and trying to find them in the fall, and you’d have to add Chickens to eat the maggots in the Cowpies, lest Worms eat the Cows alive. And you can’t just herd Chickens up the mountain in the Spring, unless you like your Coyotes and Cougars well fed. And Cows ruin waterways.
So as excited as they were about their shiny new theory, ranchers with any sense (which excludes the Bundys) gave up on the theory within a few years. Unfortunately for them, the Reality that they thought they were Creating wasn’t Consistent with Terrestrial Biology, and turned out to be Fantasy. We might call it “The Proof is in the Pudding.” Climate-Change Deniers will eventually run up against this Inconvenient Truth, and that’s what the Ceres-Aletheia Cycle is all about. Basically, “Does it grow Corn?” Ceres is as in Cereal after all. Eventually the denizens of these “expensive homes” won’t be able to get insurance for neither Flood nor Fire nor Wind, and without Mexicans there will be no one around who knows how to rebuild anyway.
It’s often instructive to look back at where we’ve been. The Ceres-Aletheia Cycle that we’re finishing up began in August 1990 at 28 of Leo. Yes, that’s only one Degree from August’s Total Solar Eclipse. That Degree is “Many little birds on the limb of a big tree: A wide and confusing openness to a multiplicity of inspiring potentialities.” That’s an excellent Metaphor for the Far Right’s litany of Wishful-Thinking Dramatizations like Trickle-Down and Ethnic-Cleansing and Voter-Fraud that we’ve been assaulted with for the last three Decades, most of which the 1% apparently actually Believe. The Antichrist’s intolerance for Delayed Gratification may actually turn out to be useful.
Accompanying the Aletheia-Ceres Initiation will be the 14 September Hylonome Station. Hylonome is about detaching ourselves from the Archetypes and Limiting Beliefs that have the same role for us as disproved and soon-to-be-disproved notions about what makes the Moon go ’round.
