Venus, Mars, and Yintegrity

Venus is dancing with the 4 June New Moon, Mars is very busy, and of course Yintegrity is the bottom line here as we approach the 9 June Eris-Uranus Initiation.  If you haven’t been dancing with Rebirth of your Sexuality and Sensuality (Venus and Mars) yet, to bring it more in line with your Yintegrity, you’re probably overdue.  The Royal Star Regulus is still lit up, so be mindful that Revenge (Mars) may backfire.

Mars, after turning Retrograde at the Ides of April, reached it’s astrological Opposition to the Sun on 22 May, backed into Scorpio on 27 May, reached it’s cosmological Opposition to the Sun (closest approach to Earth in a decade) on 29 May, and turns Direct again on 29 June.  If you’re feeling or encountering a lot of bitchiness (as one reader calls it) or lack of Satisfaction (as Mick would call it), you can probably blame Mars.  Of course, if you’re being Victimized by Mars, we’d interpret that as a Denial of ______ [you’ll have to PIAVA how to fill in the blank; it’d be different for everyone].

Mars’s Shadow Period (span of Retrogradation) covers 24 Scorpio to 9 Sagittarius, the last two and-a-half Duads of Scorpio (adjustments to the Ego to Balance new Learnings) and the first three and-a-half Duads of Sagittarius (testing our New Ego in social settings).  Scorpio is about Fearlessly Digging Deep, and Sagittarius is about Letting  Go.  Mars entered its Shadow Period February 18.  So…

Whatever business it is that we haven’t finished and which we danced with in the last half of February, after we tried and failed to Let It Go over the last three months, it’s back.  YooHoo.  So now we have to immerse ourselves in it.  Locate it in our Body and just Be in that spot for a month.  Dr. Kim must have a good astrologer or good Intuition, because as it often is, her current message is right on…

The New Moon is very busy…

It’s in Gemini, Conjunct Venus, and it’s one corner of a Grand Cross with Saturn, Jupiter-North Node, and Neptune-South Node.  It’s also the head of a Kite, on a Saturn-Hopi-Mnemosyne Fire Grand Trine.  The Neptune-South Node corner of the Grand Cross is the head of a second Kite, on a Pluto-Jupiter/North Node-Aletheia Earth Grand Trine.  The Kites are connected by two Yods, to Hopi/Leo from Pluto-Neptune, and to Pluto/Capricorn from Hopi and the New Moon.

Stressful, but the Rewards for Surrendering Control and PIAVAing what you lack should be fabulous.  If they aren’t, PIAVA the next step – you may also need something else, you may need to go Deeper, or your mind may just be leading you into one of those blind Either/Or alleys.  You may need to Wonder what to PIAVA.  It could just be Patience.  We’re in the Soup till 9 June.  That doesn’t mean we have to Suffer, but it also means that perfect Comfort is likely to escape us.

The second, Jupiter-Neptune axis of the Grand Cross is malformed, as Jupiter does not really Oppose Neptune.  Jupiter recently backed up to within a Degree and-a-half of completing the Opposition, then changed its mind and went back the other way.  The real Opposition took place last September.  That Opposition was the Blooming of the very momentous Neptune-Jupiter and simultaneous Chiron-Jupiter Initiation, in May 2009, a prelude to the 2010 Neptune-Chiron Initiation.  All three of these Initiations occurred in 27 Aquarius, “An ancient pottery bowl filled with fresh violets.”  If you have the time, you might want to review “Chiron-Neptune” in the list of Categories at right.

These Fresh Violets are a Symbol we recognize, as the theme for the initially-alternate economy that is being formed as the dregs of the Industrial-Age economy limp into the Digital Age.  And we recognize the Chironean Despair that surrounded the recent Derivative Crisis (advertised by the corporate media as a “Subprime Loan” Crisis; this theme of making the Victims into Criminals is a trend that’s just starting).  

The Industrial-Age economic infrastructure that died in 2010 isn’t fixable; it will have to be replaced with “Fresh Violets,” but the bankers are stretching it out as long as they can because they’re getting rich off if it and hoping to make it into the 1% before it’s too late, and because the 1% haven’t figured out yet how to checkmate China and the other contenders (including us) as they plan their own new infrastructure. 

Eventually the alternate economy will go mainstream as the seed of the first Digital Age Survival strategy for the Analog portion of the 99%.  It’s about growing our own Food, trying to protect ourselves from the political corruption and poisoned Earth that Predatory Capitalism leaves almost everywhere on the Planet, creating local Community, adapting the portions of new technology that are accessible to us (such as 3D printing), and growing Resilience.  

We can probably safely assume that for most of us the future will look more like present-day Libya or Syria or the Palestinian dilemma, than the Sound of Music or the Gatsby.  One of the best handbooks for the alternate economy is probably Permaculture Magazine, and its new Western-Hemisphere spinoff.  The ancient Popular Mechanics is also surprisingly useful.

The fact that the Jupiter-Neptune axis of the Grand Cross does not complete suggests that…

This New Moon and its Grand Cross may unleash a lot of Paper Tigers – bundles of Fear that look like Monsters from our Karmic past.  If this is true, then there will likely be an economic feint (or faint) in June – the long-promised demise of the current economic shell game will appear to be happening, while its actual demise may be delayed until after the US elections.  The appearance of demise will probably be enough to bring us all face to face with our Survival Fears.

Other than knowing that we’re in the Void phase of the final Jupiter-Saturn Cycle of the Industrial Age, and that there will most likely be a Cultural component to this Eris-Uranus Revelation of Denial business (think Global Balming, Poverty, Predatory Capitalism, for-profit medicine), I haven’t looked at the rest of the year and decade yet astrologically.  I will soon.

The unfortunate Truth is that the 1% have become expert at “Crisis Investing,” which means taking maximum advantage of the Victims of any Crisis, the way W and his cronies did after Hurricane Katrina or 9/11 (see Naomi Klein’s Shock Doctrine or John Perkins’s New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man if you want to learn how that’s done – or just watch The Donald).  So whatever occurs on the Cultural or Global scale, we need to PIAVA that Huperity has reached a Tripping Point, and that Miracles are available to the Planet.  There is ample potential for that.

The New Moon is also the head of a Kite, on a Saturn-Hopi-Mnemosyne Fire Grand Trine.  The Neptune-South Node corner of the Grand Cross is the head of a second Kite, on a Pluto-Jupiter/North Node-Aletheia Earth Grand Trine.  The Kites are connected by two Yods, to Hopi/Leo from Pluto-Neptune, Hopi meaning Respect for All Things, and to Pluto/Capricorn from Hopi and the New Moon.  Fire and Earth form a potent Alchemical combination.

The New Moon is also Trioctile (Rebalancing) to the recent Lilith-Juno Initiation (“Around a campfire a group of young people sit in spiritual communion” – bringing Yindependence to the Edges of our Consciousness), which Initiation is in turn at the head of a Quintile Yod from Vesta and Chiron.

Our Choice Points are really whether to be in Despair about how our Unconscious Beliefs in Limitation have us shackled, or to be Willing to move toward Miracles by PIAVAing what we don’t believe is attainable – or perhaps that we don’t believe it’s attainable – and by Empathizing with what’s really going on.  “You poor Sweetheart, you’re really swimming in Self-Rejection here, aren’t you” for instance.  PIAVAs about trying to Heal our Despair by Changing External Reality will probably not work as well here; it’s an inside job.

The mindstuff that forms the content of our Anxieties is what needs to be jettisoned as soon as possible, so we can instead use our scarce Attention Resources to either focus directly on our Anxiety itself (for instance Tapping Out “Even though I feel very Worried, I deeply and completely Love and Accept myself”), or to go Deeper and begin to get Comfortable with the Real Feelings that our Anxiety is trying to hide from us (“I Wonder what Real Emotions are underneath my Anxiety, and how I might Heal their Source”).

This is the Gift of the Neptune-South Node Kite.

Portal 24-29.3 – Saturn V

Yet another reader writes (a hot topic, eh?)…

“A former ‘bestie’ who has (after my inner enlightenment) shown herself to actually be a ‘frienemy,’ posted a pic of her hand in a splint, held in the position of an ‘F-you’ finger, which seems synchronous enough on its own, but when I send a friendly note of commiseration, she replied, ‘There needs to be someone incapacitated at all times — your turn next!’ 

“It felt as close to a curse as I’ve experienced.

Definitely!  Sad that someone has an Unconscious Belief in Suffering, but not I suppose unusual.

“My husband, a lovely practical man who is able to shed others’ energies like a duck, laughed and asked why I even engaged her.  Good question.  I suppose I am still looking to heal something there. 

“But my larger query is about dealing with a situation stronger than ‘taunts’ — what appears to be active desire to wish ill on me.

“Seems very Ixion, no?  Wasn’t he the one who gave something poisoned to Hercules’ wife that she then unwittingly gave him and caused his death?”

That was Nessus, while he was dying after Hercules wounded him to revenge Nessus’s attempted rape of Hercules’ wife.  What tangled webs we weave, eh?

“My current strategy is to imagine a beautiful mesh dome of healing light and mirrors to bounce any negative energies back at the sender, but I’m left feeling so sad.  Why this waste?  But there are likely themes of envy and competition and narcissism that I avoided seeing, out of wanting to “see the best” in her.

“So I am working hard to keep remembering that ‘I Walk in Light.’ 

“My inner Innocent wants to focus on the Good in the World, but there is a rising Inner Warrior who is sharpening her blades — standing ready to cut all ties.  Or at least polishing my shield to reflect back Medusa’s image to her.

“Also interesting how subtle threads can be plucked to create a resonance or tone that others cannot hear, but feel clear to me.

“In any case, I responded with lightness and humor that ‘no thanks — my card’s already been punched, but I was sure she had a full card that could be redeemed for perhaps a free lightning healing!’

As Alan Watts said, “It’s harder to Let Go of our Good Karma, than it is to Let Go of our Bad Karma.  Bear in mind that the Greek Myths were stories of how the Patriarchs defeated Nature, allowing the Illusion that She can be controlled, which Illusion has been busy destroying the Planet ever since.  You can see Medusa acting through the Superstorms that have been plaguing the Planet since Global Warming started to become extreme – and the Patriarchy’s impotence in its Reactions.  The appropriate Response is to Empathize with Medusa.

Yes, by all means

“a beautiful mesh dome of healing light and mirrors to bounce any negative energies back at the sender,”

though it’s useful to remember that “negative” only has meaning with regard to the Receiver, as “positive” and “negative” only exist operationally.  That means that they aren’t absolutes, but relative to the purpose and context at hand.  Maybe you could instead think in terms of Energies that don’t Serve the Highest Good of All, or the like, rather than “negative” Energies.  That’s nit-picking, but it might be useful.

“But I’m left feeling so sad.  Why this waste?”  

Yes, that’s your Resistance to having to do the Work which you Believe others should be doing – and in a Healed World they would be.  But this World needs Healing, and we’re self-appointed.  This is why we above all need Persistence, because we were programmed to Resist healing the holes in our Auras.  That’s how the significant adults in our childhood controlled us.  So that Feeling of Sadness is your key to knowing you’re on the right track.  Shift your Attention from the Sadness in your Emotional Body to the Fullness you Feel in your Energy Body when you have your Mesh Dome of Mirrors in place.  Adjust your MirrorMesh till you Feel the Fullness.

Your Sadness needs a “You poor Sweetheart, you believe it’s Sad to have to Protect yourself, don’t you” and some hugs, as you fill your Energy Space with Light.  Attend to the Edge between Sad and Safe.  I think the two of you will prefer Safe.  Natally, you have a Finger of God (Pay Attention!) pointing at Nessus, with Ixion (Orphaned Genius), Lilith (Self-Sovereignty), and the North Node (Mission) closely involved.  Nessus represents Power-Over.  

So absolutely sharpen your Inner Warrior’s blades.  You are a highly tuned Sensor for Power-Over, but your Vertex (Intuition) Squares your Nessus.  Our Squares represent Mastery through Challenge, and we of course focus on the Challenge, since it’s always demanding our Attention.  Only by carefully comparing Who We Are to Who Others Are can we see the Mastery.  Power-Over is how the Patriarchy operates, how it’s destroying the Planet.  

It’s not necessarily your duty to blow the whistle on Power-Over publicly, but in settings where the clients were Open, you could be an effective business consultant helping organizations overcome Power-Over problems in their internal Relationship Dynamics.  There are actually businesses out there that are trying to figure out how to Survive AND adapt to greater principles than Exploitation and Quarterly Profits.

“It was time to go home after serving in the Peace Corps.  It had been such a long time since I had lived in the United States … I had lost the edge on the meaning of the word ‘American.’  In Bolivia the issues were straightforward – life, death, food, children. … I had experienced too much proximity to raw existence to maintain any illusion of distinction between an ‘American’ body and a ‘Bolivian’ body.  The ultimate course for each one was the same.

“I moved with an expectant heart towards the plane bound for Miami.  As I entered, I looked down the long rows at the sea of faces, and a great percentage of the passengers were Americans.  I should have been feeling a sense of elation, but instead I suddenly felt heavy and lifeless.  I glanced around at the energy fields, and instantly my entire body registered extreme alarm.  In contrast to the blue sky visible out the plane windows, the cabin was filled with a dense, smoky energy.

“I had seen that energy before.  I began to look intensely at my fellow passengers.  Ill-health, depression, cancer, addictions were oozing out of the auric fields of almost everyone.  Was that what we were manifesting in the great land of America?  I was gripped with anxiety.  These were the living dead!”

“As I passed up and down the aisles, no one raised his or her eyes to meet mine.  We were traveling together.  Even though we thought ourselves strangers, we were inextricably bound to one another by this impervious metal membrane in the sky.  Whatever was to be their fate was also mine. … I had often ignored the reality of auric fields intermingling but here I didn’t have to look at it; I could sit with my eyes shut and feel it pressing in on me.  No way out. … Profound loneliness engulfed me.

“As if I were looking for someone to console me, to convince me it was all a dream, I began pacing the aisles again.  It was then that I saw her.  I could say that she had blonde hair, blue eyes, and was about six years old, but truthfully, I didn’t notice that right away.  What I noticed was her sparkle.  She was alive, all the way alive.  She looked up at me and stared unabashedly into my eyes without a wobble.  She took me in.  She saw me completely, and I knew it.

“I found myself shaking inside, like you do when you’ve been living in a fear state and suddenly you relax.  The letting-go causes a slight trembling.  I walked past her many times on that flight.  We talked to each other with our eyes.  I felt such recognition from her, such profound compassion.  I knew I was in the presence of a teacher, a wise soul, a loving friend.  She did not know fear.

“I had forgotten I had a choice.  She wasn’t one of the living dead, and neither was I.  She didn’t have to convince anyone of what she knew, yet it was clear that she knew it all, and her smiling eyes conveyed the strength in that knowing.

“We passed through customs in Miami, and as she walked away with her parents, she turned and gave me one last look, as if to say ‘Don’t forget.’  I had arrived home – perhaps for the first time ever.”

Consciousness and Grief

Another reader asks…

“A client has transiting Sedna Stationary right on their natal asteroid Atropos.  So if Sedna is about actions taken out of fear or anger, could its transit over and station on natal Atropos help the native to ‘sever’ this tendency in some positive way?  Otherwise, the other way around, I suppose Sedna could reflect the native’s urge to sever some situation, affair or process out of fear or anger…”

Atropos is the Goddess who wields the scissors to snip our Lifelines when our Time is up.  Sedna turns Direct on 6 February, so it’s Stationary – ie, Strong – till then.  That would not be a good day to test-drive a Lamborghini or retrieve a dropped ballpoint pen from the Lion cage.  It would also be good for them to be hypervigilant on 1 February, when the Moon Opposes Sedna.

What the Ego conveniently forgets is that 99.9% of the time – and probably more – we operate on autopilot (Karma, Trance, Archetype) without realizing it.  I mean, who wants to feel Helpless.  Consciousness is a thin varnish lain over Unconscious Reality, barely more than an Illusion.  The most glaring difference between Consciousness and the Unconscious, is that the Unconscious lacks Direction – good versus bad, left versus right, up versus down.  It has Dimensions, but not Duality.  Since Reality and the Unconscious are almost identical, what we’re reading when we read astrology, is the Unconscious.

So yes, we have a merging of a Dimension of Endings with a Dimension of Fear.  So, making a guess, your client might terminate a Relationship or a job or a Habit on 6 February, or thereabouts, out of Fear that it will be harmful.  They could give up smoking, or speedboat racing, or allopathic medicine, or an other risky Habit.  Or, more likely considering who Sedna was, something that they’ll later regret Rejecting.  On the other hand, once the dust settles, it will eventually look like a Blessing.

They might undergo a Big Ego Death; living in a Culture that can’t Discern Physical Death from Ego Death, that of course could create Big Fear.  If it was my client I’d give them a list of dates when their natal Atropos was Lit Up Big – for instance, the approximate date every year when the Sun crosses it, and the years when Jupiter and Saturn have crossed it – so they might become Aware of their historical Unconscious Reaction to their own Apropos.  Also, every four years Atropros will have crossed their natal Sedna; those would be useful dates to know as well.

As long as we’re in the Unconscious, we don’t know if Fear will increase or decrease here, and we don’t know if Endings will begin or cease.  We don’t know the Direction; only the Dimension.  If we can help our client get into Consciousness – which after all is the astrologer’s primary goal, right? – then they can develop some Healthy Control over their choice of Direction.

And yes, the Symbol for the Degree of the Sedna Station (25 Taurus), “A vast public park,” isn’t obviously related.  As with Dreams, we always want to consider the possibility of “prediction,” without adding extra Fear to the situation.  The park may include a big parking lot for Lamborghini test-driving, or a Zoo with a Lion cage.  

More seriously, though, an implication might be spaciousness.  To me spaciousness implies Meditation, and the flavors of Sedna and Atropos are both akin to the flavor of the 12th House.  The traditional meaning of the 12th House is hospitals and prisons, but if we choose a Direction different from the traditional, we can use Introversion and Meditation to reduce Stress and promote Self-Assessment, which can reduce the causes of hospitalization and imprisonment.  Introversion and Meditation can also reduce the odds of stepping into a Lion’s cage to avoid a Paper Tiger that’s chasing us.

“Yes… This is the School we’re in, and to really learn and participate (love) we have to Be Here Now.  But yesterday, in a moment of realizing that ‘Success’ as defined by my culture and upbringing, and my Yingtegrity (acting as my True Self) are fundamentally opposed, caused a kind of mind-heart freeze.  How to go forward without those cultural markers that I’ve ‘done it right’ and am acknowledged as skilled/creative by my tribe?  To realize that I have, in a sense, chosen to walk away from the village and into the forest alone, is a strange emptiness that I am working with all my selves to not be discouraged or terrified by.  I think Jung said something about the path of individuation being a lonely one, but to experience it in myself is truly an Edge.”

Yes, the Hero’s or Heroine’s Journey isn’t Thornless.  We’ve actually all been dancing on this Edge all our Lives, between our True Self and our necessary Community.  As children we were at times punished for being our True Self, and we’re left with the Belief that we have to Choose.  But we don’t.  As we’ve danced ever since, we let our True Self sneak out at times, and indulge our Community’s Demands at other times.  It’s not actually about Choice; it’s about Both/And.

Especially as the Internet has spread, we’ve all begun to migrate our Community.  Most of us are far closer to the people who Allow our True Self to bloom, and less close to those who don’t, than we were in our younger days.  There will be times when the cliff is steeper, when we need to cut chords that have Supported our False Self and haven’t yet replaced their Support.  And we will move toward Sustenance – the other side of the Coin from Sustainability – because Money is a tool often used to Exploit our False Self.  

Every Loss must be Grieved, so yes, there are times when the emptiness and loneliness seems to dominate.  As with other Emotions, we need to Discern, Witness, and Embrace.  Grief has its own timetable, but it will be much shortened if we give ourselves a healthy dose of “You poor Sweetheart, you’re really Feeling your Abandonment, aren’t you.”

the Initiation takes place at 24 Libra, “A butterfly with a third wing on its left side” – the Yin side…

a Rebirth of Mars as Consort to the Goddess.  Mars Opposes his sister Eris, Revealer of the Denied, who is strongly illuminated.

Eris is the focus of both a Finger of God based on Venus Sextile Jupiter, and a Mjolnir based on Saturn Square Orcus.  Mars is also the focus of a Quintile Yod from the Moon and Chiron.

A Mjolnir -Thor’s Hammer in English – symbolizes Lightning, or sudden and irreversible Illumination of the Darkness.   It’s a third planet at the far Midpoint of a Square, so there’s a Trioctile to the third planet from each end of the Square.  The “Tri” is Love with Wisdom; the “Octile” is Adjustment, Rebalancing.  The Square may be Frustrating, but the Mjolnir‘s Epiphany suddenly makes it Miraculously Easy.

It’s about our Discovering the Roots of our Limiting Oaths.  Gently and Lovingly, but Solidly.

I Wonder…  I’ve Wanted so badly to have or be or do THIS, and I’ve been trying forever but I just can’t Create it.  What if I’m Stopping myself.  I Wonder if I swore some sort of Oath a long time ago, that’s still Blocking me.  Something happened, and I reacted by Swearing never to let that happen again.  It’s like trying to remember a Dream – it’s right there, I can taste it, I can almost see it.  What was it?  It’s not about THIS, but it must be related.  There must be a connection between THIS and that, so my Oath against that stymies THIS.  Ganeshi, would you be willing to Lovingly and Gently remove any obstacles to this Revelation and Rebirth?

Orcus Opposes Neptune, with Saturn T-Squaring them both.  That means Mars-Haumea and Eris each make Trioctile Bridges across the T-Square, and together form a Trioctile Rectangle or Box.  

Boxes are driven by the Oppositions between their corners.

Our Oath seems murky because it was an integral part of our Social Programming; if we had or were or did that, we would be ostracized.  And at that age we had no Survival Skills; it would be certain Death, or on earlier Timelines slavery to a rival Tribe.  This is not Child’s Play, we’ve lived many variations of this Pattern on many Timelines, in many Lives.  With the fate of the Planet in our hands, we all need to Let Go of these Limiting Patterns so we can find our Voice to have and be and do what WE need to have and be and do in order to fulfill our Mission.  It seems small, but one missing piece in a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle makes a glaring hole.  It may be Child’s Play, as your Oath may have resulted from Games that are Innocent to Children, but Impermissible to adults.

Mars-Haumea is also Sextile to Ixion-Pholus, and this Sextile is the base of a Sedna Finger of God.

Actions taken out of Fear often have Unintended Consequences, because we don’t have time, or a clear head, to think through the outcomes.  And the same is true of Actions NOT taken out of Fear.  While our Oath may have prevented “sins” of Commission, it has almost Certainly been Creating “sins” of Omission.  There are important roles in your Community that you shy away from because you Unconsciously Fear Punishment if you defy your ancient Oath.  Roles meant for you, and Communities with missing pieces.  Our Rebirth can allow us to Take Full Responsibility for our Unique Genius that we’ve been hiding because we Fear it will appear Pathological.  We may have to Tap out some Fear along the way.

Which makes a Trine Fez: Jupiter Trine Sedna Unx Eris Trine Pholus-Ixion Square Jupiter.  

Fezes are driven by the Quincunxes between their corners.

So we have two assignments, both requiring Permanent Curiosity.  There are no Answers here, only Questions.  Where there are Insights, they should introduce more Questions.  It’s not an intellectual exercise, where an Answer eases our Anxiety and we can relax.  We want to Surrender to Wonder, and be Awed by how incredible the Universe works when we Witness our Ego and Act from Ongoing Curiosity instead.

Great Spirit, how can I Safely navigate my Fear about Living my Unique Genius?  I Wonder what I will need to discover in order to Grow into my rightful place in my Community and on the Planet.

Mars-Haumea is also the focus of a Quintile Yod from the Moon and Chiron.  Pluto is the focus of a Quintangle from Juno and the South Node.  The Moon and Juno form the base of a Septangle focused on Ceres.

A Quintile Yod is formed when a third planet is at the far Midpoint between two planets that form a Quintile; the third planet is the focus.  A Quintangle is a third planet at the near Midpoint between two planets forming a Biquintile; again, the third planet is the focus.  A Septangle is a third planet at the far Midpoint between two planets that make a Triseptile, with the third planet as the focus.

We’re Learning here to Trust our Instincts, and to recognize Despair as the sign that Miracles await; we need only Witness our Despair.  “You poor Sweetheart, you really feel Discouraged, don’t you.”  It’s not a Choice; we’re Learning how to Choose Growth in the Edges of our Consciousness instead of continuing to Fear the Edges of our Held Emotions.  Business as Usual is not Sustainable.  We have Instincts that tell us where and how we need to Grow.  We need only to stop ignoring them.

Orcus I

So yes, if we promise Mom and Dad we’ll never do that again, but we slip up and let it happen, then you bet we’ll get Punished.  For the Etruscans, who brought us the Mythological Orcus, it probably wasn’t so much Mom and Dad, as Allegiance to the Etruscan League – which was pretty much under constant seige by its neighbors.  

And we all, except for the Newcomers, have Adventures like that in our Karmic portfolio, where if we wanted to Survive we had to Swear Allegiance to one Warlord or another.  Even the Newcomers probably got it in their preparatory Simulations.  We can Witness the same Drama being set up again in the US this week, as the propaganda machine creates another Either/Or where “You’re either with us or against us.”

This is the primary Mastery through Challenge influence in the Orcus “Discovery” chart, as Orcus – which we can read as Obedience to our Oaths or simply Yangtegrity (Doing what we said we would do) – Opposes a Conjunction of 2007 OR10 with the Sun.  So the basic Second-Harmonic or Opposition issue (Contradistinction) is Self-Control, as OR10 represents irruptions from the Unconscious, which are always a constant threat to Yangtegrity.  And the Second Harmonic itself – symbolized by the Priestess – is all about defending a Dogma.  Or not.  

The Opposition is T-Squared by a Stationary (Strong) Pholus, symbolizing Responsibility.  So the Challenge is basically “Who ya gonna call?”  Are we going to Trust our own Instincts (the irruptions), or our Oaths.  The Contradistinction is heightened by Uranus (our Soul Urge, or Yintegrity, which means Doing what we damn well Feel like doing moment to moment, aka Trusting our Intuition) Conjoining Sun-OR10 – setting up a classic Yangtegrity versus Yintegrity Conflict, with Responsibility – Maturity, our Cultural Burden – making the Choices.  Right out of Lord of the Flies.  

I mean, who among us didn’t grow up with these kind of Choices always front and center.  If our natal Saturn or Neptune wasn’t Stationary, anyway.

But remember, a T-Square by our reckoning stands for Mastery through Challenge.  So we don’t emphasize the Conflict in a T-Square, we emphasize our vast Experience with the Conflict.  Consequently we advocate that we Witness and Empathize with the enduring and ongoing Trauma that the Challenge has given us, while shifting our mental attitude from being a Victim of the Conflict, to acknowledging that we’ve dealt with this sort of Conflict so often that we are actually Masters of it.  That’s not what it Feels like, but when we assess it objectively, that’s what it is.

It’s a very clear Choice – do we take a step in the direction of Freedom (Yintegrity), or do we continue in Slavery (Yangtegrity).  Or, put the other way, do we take a step in the direction of Responsibility (Yangtegrity), or do we continue towards Anarchy (Yintegrity).  Well, with the Uranus-Pluto Cycle at the Waxing Square stage, we would suggest that moving toward Yintegrity is a step toward Flowing with the Zeitgeist.  But it’s not quite that simple.

We also need to redefine Responsibility.  It means Being Able to Respond, and in a strong sense, Being Able to Respond rather than React.  Where is our Fulcrum?  Do we almost always move toward Yangtegrity, or toward Yintegrity?  Do we weigh each circumstance and make a Conscious Decision about which way to move?  Do we make such a Decision with the mind, or with the Heart, or the Belly?  Recognizing that the mind will probably lean toward Yangtegrity, while the Heart and Belly will probably lean toward Yintegrity.

So this primary layer of the Orcus Discovery chart is about “Growing Up,” but not in the sense of Choosing Yangtegrity over Yintegrity, as most of were made to believe Growing Up meant – most of our schoolteachers leaned toward Yangtegrity after all, or they wouldn’t me schoolteachers.  Growing Up in the sense of Taking Full Responsibility to get Conscious of and Challenge our automatic Reactions, so we can make situationally appropriate Decisions about when to support our Liberation directly, and when we can afford to lose a battle in order to win the War.

So we can see Orcus to be about Decision points, Tripping Points.  Do we bite the propaganda bait and Live in Fear and Hatred and Us Versus Them, or do we Trust that the World is moving toward actually Looking in the Mirror and Taking Responsibility for the Reflections of our own Shadows, realizing that Them is actually Us and that we actually have Nothing to Fear except Hatred itself.  Who, after all, is the Arms Merchant to the World?

As Elizabeth points out, we’ve often maintained that the strongest chart is one combining Much Energy and Motivation, with Much Grace.  In this first layer of the Orcus Discovery chart, the Pholus T-Square qualifies as Much Energy.  Is there Much Grace?   Yes, a fat Grand Trine, with Orcus itself the corner shared by the T-Square and the Grand Trine.  The other two planets in the Grand Trine are Pluto (the Mandatory) and Eris (Revelation of Denial), heavy hitters!  

So the Grace arises from Paying Attention to the Punishment and Paying Attention to what we’re Denying, or rather, since that’s an oxymoron, PIAVAing that we become Aware of what we’re Denying.  Whether we ultimately step toward Yang or toward Yin, we want to Pay Attention to the threat of Punishment, preferably by Witnessing it and Empathizing with our Victim of it – Present-Moment, historical, and herstorical.  Historical means “What happened?”  Herstorical means “How did that Feel?”  Present-Moment means “Where are the scars?”

Another element in the chart is a Quincunx Bridge across the Opposition, formed by a Moon-Nessus Conjunction.

Which introduces another prominent Question – what is this teaching us about the Patriarchy?  That’s not a Question we want to Answer, it’s one we want to hold as a Perpetual Curiosity.  It’s no secret that Yangtegrity is what maintains the Patriarchy, and that the Patriarchy is overdue for a decline, as Yintegrity rises in prominence.  If your Karma runs through Jeanne d’Arc, after Empathizing with your Punished Victim you may well Choose Yintegrity even if you’re Risking Punishment again.  

Which brings us to another Complexity – the Oath may not be your own.  As a member of a Tribe or Commune or Gender or Nationality you may be assumed by your compatriots to have sworn such an Oath.  You could then be Punished by a different Tribe or Gender or Commune or Nationality for your assumed Oath, or punished by your own Tribe or Gender or Nationality or Commune if you’re caught betraying the Oath you never made.  Or both.  Justice is usually spelled JustUs.  The correspondence of the Oath with the Flag reminds us that the Flag is turning into an Eagle which is turning into a Chanticleer Heralding the Light.

The Yangtegrity view that Yintegrity is akin to Anarchy is another propaganda wall that must be breached as Yintegrity waxes.  If you’re watching Football or Futbol, you know that one of the most critical skills a player can have, is knowing when to be unerringly steady to his or her appointed role, and when to step outside of that role to cover a teammate or take advantage of an opportunity.  These are very Yang games, yet it’s often Yintegrity that creates temporary heroism.

Nep Tunes, Pisces, and Saturn

The astrological Signs are divided up into “Duads,” two-and-a-half Degree chunks, so there are twelve of them in each Sign.  Neptune turns Direct in the eighth Degree of Pisces on 18 November, near the beginning of the Fourth Duad of Pisces.  Planets go backward (“Retrograde” in the vernacular) and then Direct again when they want us to Pay Attention to something.  

Here Neptune – which signifies All Things Larger Than the Self (such as Culture, Gods and Goddesses, Union with the All, even at times Fear) – crossed this Fourth Duad of Pisces between mid-February and mid-June of this year, then stopped and backed over it from mid-June till Now.  Now it will cross this Territory again, for the third time, just in case we missed the Universe’s Message the first two times.

The usual process is that the first crossing of a Territory is what we call a “Can-Opener,” as whatever closet Resistance we have to what the Universe wants to convey, is triggered, and we’re caught off guard.  It’s been 250 years since Neptune last crossed this Territory, so it’s not like we got our homework assignment before this February-to-June pop quiz.  

If we manage to avoid Blaming someone or something for the Shock of the Can-Opener, and maintain our Curiosity and Awe about what’s happening “to” us during these Can-Openers – even though we are seeing through a glass darkly, then during the second crossing we are able to stay open to developing a clearer understanding of the Message.  We call the second crossing the “Exposition” phase, because the Message is “Exposed” more clearly then, and in slow motion – in this case mid-June to Now.

If we succumbed to Blame during the Can-Opener, then when the Universe repeats the Message during the second crossing, we’re Shocked again, giving us a second opportunity to receive the Message – or deepen our descent into Blame.  If we “get” the Message, in either of the first two phases, then the third crossing, which here spans Now through early March of next year, is what we call the “Confidence-Builder” phase, as the Universe “Shocks” us again, but this time our Experience allows us to understand what’s going on enough to Respond rather than React.  

It we miss the Message the third time, well, we miss out.  Like the Oath we swore in third grade never to Trust a Teacher again, the missed Message accrues to our Karma, and we’ll just have to work it out later.  No Pressure – that’s just the way it works, and we’ve been doing it since Time began.  There will always be another opportunity to Liberate ourselves.  It’s just easier if we do it sooner.

The interactions between planets are much more distinct and compressed in time, so it’s easier to Notice and Respond to those, than it is to Notice and Respond to the subtle differences between the Third Duad of Pisces and the Fourth.  For instance, in mid-April Vesta (symbolizing Unconscious Beliefs) danced with Neptune, and we were able to Learn about where we were Unconsciously Resisting Processes Larger than Our Self.  And next week Saturn (signifying our Projection of Order onto the Universe) will dance with Neptune, so we’ll get to see places where our concepts of Cultural Order are no longer functional – places where in the rocket’s glare the flag has lost its meaning.

The Saturn-Neptune Square is Waning, so basically, as we enter the Void phase of the Saturn-Neptune Cycle…

The Organizing Patterns we’ve projected onto our Culture and onto other Cultures, and the Organizing Principles we’ve been projecting into the ineffable realm of the Gods and Goddesses, no longer work, as we enter a ten-year period where Cultural and Religious conceptualization are thrown into a brown bag and shaken up, with an ultimate result that hasn’t been Co-Created yet – we won’t find out till we open the bag in 2026.  The result will depend a lot on how quickly and thoroughly we’re able to Let Go of our old concepts and drop into “Don’t Know” or “Beginner’s Mind” about Culture and Religion and other Neptunian Realms.  

This Saturn-Neptune interaction is a Can-Opener, and we’ve probably already seen the Shock we’d expect to accompany it, though we’ve been interpreting it through the eyes of last week’s and this week’s astroevents.  The Shock could intensify between now and next Thursday, when the Saturn-Neptune dance is “complete.”  The Exposition will occur next June, and we won’t see the Confidence-Builder till next September.  The Confidence-Builder won’t be about how well we’ve Reorganized our Cultural and Religious concepts; it will be about how well we’ve Let them Go.

But that’s next week; what about this week?  We’re dealing with that Fourth Duad of Pisces, what’s that about.

The Duads take their name and meaning from the Signs.  For Pisces, the first Duad is the Pisces Duad, the second Duad the Aries Duad, the third Duad the Taurus Duad, the fourth Duad the Gemini Duad,…, the twelfth Duad the Aquarius Duad.  

For Leo, to take another example, the first Duad is the Leo Duad, the fourth Duad the Scorpio Duad, the seventh Duad the Aquarius Duad, and the tenth Duad the Taurus Duad.  

The first Duad of Sagittarius is the Sagittarius Duad, the fifth Duad the Aries Duad, the ninth Duad the Leo Duad, etc.  Can you see the Pattern?  

Pisces is about Confronting Held Emotions.  Held Emotions are the cement that makes our Karma look like a formidable fortress wall.  Pisces is the last stage of the Void; the overriding opportunity is to Clear these Held Emotions so we can watch the Karmic fortress crumble like a sand castle in a rising tide.  The Nemesis of Pisces is Resistance.  Pisces has to Surrender to these Emotions, let the rising tide have its way with us, and wash us Clean.  That’s how we prepare to start afresh in the next Cycle.

The First Duad of Pisces is about getting overwhelmed by these Held Emotions.  Neptune “Rules” (is very Strong in) Pisces, so Neptune in the First Duad was probably pretty intense for most of us; check your Journal for April-July of 2011 and February-April of 2012.  

If we Surrendered to the tsunami in the First Duad, the Second Duad of Pisces is about beginning to make Lemonade, beginning to do something Creative with our Emotional Energy.  The Second-Duad Can-Opener found us in April-July 2012, during the second Transit of Venus across the face of the Sun and the first Uranus-Pluto Square, then again in February-April 2013, where we began to get our footing after Time Ended, with the assistance of all the Grand Trines that Pi was using to help us over the Threshold.  

In the Third Duad of Pisces we were Challenged to Stabilize our new Energy, our new way to use Emotional Energy.  Emotion, after all, is what molds and holds Energy into Material Form.  Once the Grand Trines ended, in May-July 2013 (and again starting in March 2014), it was up to us to hold on to what we gained in the Second Duad, up to us to begin Habituating new Patterns that would promote our Mission rather than Sabotage it.

Finally, starting in March of this year, we’ve moved into the Fourth Duad.  Here we begin to Spread our newfound, Stabilized Skills at using Emotional Energy to Create what we Want.  We’re Challenged to Let Go of our Pride over what we’ve already Created, so we can get ready to Design Version 2.0.  And to Imagine how we can Expand our new Skills into additional realms.  We’re beginning to Imagine how we might Co-Create new models of Community, models that Support us rather than Control us.  Starting 18 November, we start into the Confidence-Building stage of this process.

We can’t forget that this Neptune Station is followed a day and a half later by a Station of dwarf planet 2007 OR10 – Becoming Conscious of our Unconscious Beliefs.  Stations of Nessus and Vesta have intervened since we talked about OR10, so we might want to review…

There are places where strangers look you in the eye and smile as you pass on the street, and there are places where they look right through you.  Zombies.  They say that so many Souls are attracted to our Planet at this time because they don’t want to miss our Jump into Hyperspace, but sometimes you wonder if the Zombies have Souls at all.  They’re just Mirroring the parts of our Self that we’ve cut off.  As you go to sleep on Friday the 13th, first PIAVA to Let Go of Resistance easily, and to Enjoy a Loving and Gentle Soul Retrieval.  Then recall one of those Sleepwalkers you saw during the week, and just for a few minutes imagine yourself walking in their Body.  Just for a few minutes.  Then Let it Go, Change the Subject, and PIAVA to remember your Dreams.

“If you’re comfortable doing [this] experiment, then close your eyes, notice how your body feels – then bring up that humiliation from grade school and observe what happens.  Notice how your body feels and any thoughts that come up.  Just notice it.  Then imagine washing away the image with a high-pressure water hose or a large wet eraser, and open your eyes.  This is another technique you can use to change negative mental images.”

Or, it you get stuck in a Zombie, use it to wash away the shell and leave just your own Safe Self.
