Edges 4

A Reader and Muse sends along this blog post by Asia Suler…

“Invasive species are, by definition, any plants that are not native and have a tendency to spread, outcompeting the indigenous flora.  Because invasives thrive in places that have been disturbed, their tribe is seemingly everywhere.  Though sometimes seen as noxious, these plants are often our most prized medicine in the herbal world (like nettles, burdock, and chickweed).  For anyone who grew up eating honeysuckle or blowing dandelion seeds, these plants can be at the very center of our most precious memories.  The only thing more pandemic than their reach, however, is the spread of our corresponding resentment.

“Around this time of the year I start to see many anti-invasives campaigns popping up in my feed.  Much of this work is grounded in incredible compassion for our native populations, but it seems no matter what community we live in, we are often fed more information about who to hate than who to love.  In a time where immigration debates are so heated a part of me feels pain every time I hear the word ‘invasive.’

“The nuances of these two situations are, undoubtedly, different, but the vehemence is so similar it leads me to wonder — is our hatred of invasive plants, like the blind opposition to immigration, just another way our deeper knowing is asking us to take a look at our own selves (and the journey we’ve taken to get here)?

Asia Suler – I don’t know if this is a case of someone taking the hint and doing the Work they were originally Named for, or if she has Chosen the Name on purpose because her Soul wanted it.  But Sulis is the Celtic Goddess of the Hot Springs at Bath, here gussied up by the Romans…

“I was standing on the platform in Bath, Wiltshire, many years ago, waiting for a train to Salisbury.  Behind me was a woman on a bench eating what we Gringos would call a muffin; she’da probably called it a crumpet or something.  Milling around on the ground in front of her, silent but agitated, was a Pigeon with a club foot, obviously coveting some of her muffin.  The woman appeared unaware of her suitor.

“I asked Sulis, Goddess of the Bath Springs, to help the Pigeon.  She replied that this was the Pigeon’s fate, and it could not be changed.  So I asked Krishna if He would help, and He patiently but condescendingly explained that it was the Pigeon’s Karma.  Then I asked Jesus if He would help the Pigeon, and He said nothing.  But when I turned around, the woman was sharing her muffin with the Pigeon, with a blissful look on her (the woman’s) face.”  (https://astrobuss.wordpress.com/2012/09/19/no-matter-where-we-go/)

Self-Abuse is certainly our most serious form of Abuse, because it stands between us and Unconditional Love.  But when we look at the chart of the 11 June Nessus Station in the earlier Edges (1) post (https://astrobuss.wordpress.com/2019/06/06/edges/), we don’t see asteroid Sappho, our symbol for Self-Love.  It would be out of character for astrology to give us Self-Love Lessons without Lighting Sappho Up.  So, where is Sappho?

Sure enough, Sappho is Trioctile (three eighths of the way ’round the Loop) to the Nessus Station.  The Trioctile is about Insight.  And Sappho is Merged with asteroid Juno, our symbol for Growth in Consciousness, so a Lesson like the one with the Invasives is completely appropriate.  But wait, Sappho-Juno is Challenged (Squared) by dwarf planet Haumea, symbolizing Rebirth, and that’s Merged with (Conjunct) asteroid Veritas (Truth).  So there are even Deeper Energies flowing here, connecting us to Rebirth of Truth.

While a Trioctile symbolizes Insight, two adjacent Trioctiles symbolize Epiphany!  And the Nessus Station is also Trioctile to Haumea-Veritas, adjacent to the first Trioctile – Voila, Epiphany!  So we can Expect big Self-Love breakthroughs to come this week.  Here’s the chart, with the thin yellow-orange lines delineating the Trioctiles…

When two Trioctiles are adjacent, we call it a Mjölnir, which is Norwegian for Thor’s Hammer.  Thor’s Hammer is what Ego astrologers call this Configuration, but that term is too easily Confused with violence, as Thor’s Hammer wins every game of Rock-Paper-Scissors without subtlety.  But if we look at the Vedic equivalent of the Mjölnir, the Vajra, it’s clear that the Deeper meaning is Lightning, not a Sledge.  Certainly Lightning would also win every game of Rock-Paper-Scissors.  But Lightning is Illumination, not Destruction, though what is Destroyed, certainly – or Transformed, is the Ego.  So no wonder Ego astrology considers it Violent.  For us it implies Enlightenment.

Now looking at the yellow-orange lines on the chart, we see that there isn’t just one Mjölnir, but two!  And they Oppose one another – the yellow-orange dos Equis.  So we’re due to be Enlightened not just on our Abuse and Privilege (Nessus), but also on our Oaths and Limitations (Orcus).  The details of our Enlightenment about Abuse and Privilege were likely to involve Growing Consciousness of Self-Love (Sappho-Juno) and Rebirth of Truth (Haumea-Veritas).  The details of our Epiphany around Oaths and Limitations are likely to be about New Revelations of what we’ve been Denying (asteroid Klotho Merged with dwarf planet Eris), and our Self-Confidence (dwarf planet Chariklo).

And do you Recognize those Dos Equis?  That’s a Yin Gate, isn’t it.  All of the other Yin Gates we’ve dealt with have been a bisected Golden Rectangle, where green Quincunxes connect the ends of the central axis with the corners of the Golden Rectangle, like the one in https://astrobuss.wordpress.com/2017/06/26/4-july-iv-embracing-paradox/.  Here we have a bisected Grand Cross, where yellow-orange Trioctiles connect the ends of the central axis with the corners of the Grand Cross.

Either way, the essence of a Yin Gate is Paradox.  So this week is not about Figuring Out how your Oaths or Limitations are Related to your Abuse or Privilege, it’s about Surrendering your Need to Figure It Out, and Giving In to Mystery.  There’s far more for us to Learn that way.

Good, because I am “up to here” with trying to figure things out. It’s so flacking exhausting!

Oh yeah, and thanks for the Mjolnir explanation… I am having trouble with finding the trioctile in my program, though. I used a calculator for (360 / 8) x 3 and got 135, but isn’t that a sesquisquare? My eyes tell me they are not the same because there are actual sesquisq glyphs on your chart on the orange lines, but we are looking at yellow. Confused!
