“Dark Days” 1

Sorry to be AWOL for the last week – I’ve been waaay too busy with Necessities.  As you know from earlier posts, the theme of the last week has been Health and Self-Sovereignty – Hope you’ve improved on both counts, or you can use any Untoward Experience to help define for future reference how NOT to improve.

By now we’re working up to a Soulful Full Moon (Sun Conjunct Uranus) that aims to Teach us all about Transitions (Cusps).  We Enjoy Changes for the Better, but other Changes, not so much.  Not that we’re Transitioning into “Worse,” but we are Transitioning into More Intense.  For example…

  • The Full Moon itself sits on the Cusp of Scorpio, which is about getting our Fill of Meeting People, and beginning to try to Discover why the Experience hasn’t been as Fabulous as we’d hoped.  If you deal with this as your own Anxiety (ie, Tap It Out) rather than Judging other people for their “Faults,” you’ll be waaay ahead.
  • The Full-Moon Sun sits at the end of Aries (Raw Creativity), along with Uranus (Soul) in early Taurus (having to make our Creativity Pay Off).  That can be a lot less Fun than just Playing.  However, it’s not about “Paying Off” Materially, it’s about Paying Off in terms of Learning to Accept Who We Really Are.  While that will likely require Letting Go of Who We Thought We Were, the Rewards will be Immense.  “katie” has a whole essay on this for us, and it’s a good one…

  • The Full-Moon Axis is Challenged (Squared) by another Contrast (Opposition), between on one hand Realizing that our Health doesn’t Happen To Us, it’s actually Created by our own Beliefs (Varuna on the Cusp of Leo), and on the other hand…
  • Our Trust in Other People, especially People Who Aren’t Like Us (Eurydike-Hopi on the Cusp of Aquarius).  Sounds Oxymoronic, or just Moronic, that we’d Contrast Health with Trust in Others, kind of an Apples-and-Oil-Changes sort of Comparison.  But astrology does that frequently, to keep us from Preferring our Dualistic mind-Map to Multifarious Reality.  In this case we might, just to dream up an example, Realize that Feeling a Need for Support from Others could be a Motivation for Feeling Poorly.
  • Worse (because it’s a T-Square rather than a Grand Cross), we do have some Major Ego Deaths scheduled, as we’ll be Finishing Up a Whole Catalog of Emotions, and Starting out on a Whole New Way of Thinking (the focus of the T-Square is Mercury-Venus-Klotho on the Cusp of Aries).
  • The first Challenge (Square) to this is some potentially Painful Shifts in our Consciousness (Nemesis-Juno on the Cusp of Cancer).  Deal with these using Self-Empathy will pay dividends – eg, Poor-Sweethearts… “You Poor Sweetheart, you’re Feeling [Ungrounded][Out of Sorts][Confused][Hurt][…], aren’t you.”  Remember to Change the Subject afterwards, repeatedly if necessary.  And Remember to Banish Blame.
  • The second Challenge (Square) to our now-Obsolete Feeling and Thinking Patterns is a Renewed Sense of Responsibility to our Unique but Latent Genius (Ixion-Pholus on the Cusp of Capricorn).  Give your Emotions and Thoughts the Assignment of coming up with Practical Baby Steps toward Expressing and Using your Unique Genius.  You don’t need the “Violence” of Coming Out All At Once, you can just take One Small Step every day, so there’s some Continuity between your old PC Self that Others are Comfortable with, and your new True Self that may be Shocking to some of them (the T-Square creates a Vacancy on the Cusp of Libra).
  • Finally, Change is Scary (Sedna on the Cusp of Gemini), especially when the Change is aimed toward Increasing our Self-Sovereignty (Sedna Squared by Lilith on the Cusp of Pisces).  Folks who base their Security on our Meeting their Expectations will need to go through all sorts of Changes themselves as we start to Affirm Who We Really Are.  They could easily Express that through Anger.  What if they’re our employer or customers?  Trust that you’ll get more mileage out of Self-Worth than you ever would out of Giving Away Your Power, even if the Transition is rough.
  • That’s ten of the twelve Cusps.  The other two are about the Enormous Grace available to us if we simply Accept That Big Changes Are Happening (the Cusp of Virgo completes a Grand Sextile) and if we Surrender into Letting Go of What’s Become Obsolete (the Cusp of Sagittarius Completes a Grand Unx).

Remember the “Grand Unx”?  That’s when twelve planets are more or less evenly spaced around the whole Zodiacal Loop.  We only have nine of the twelve here, but we’ve made credible cases for including the other three.  (Well, okay, they aren’t all planets per se, but they’re all strong Symbolic Points.)  An “Unx” is one twelfth of something, and the Twelfth Harmonic is about Pattern-Breaking.  That means that if we Look Forward, with Gratitude and even Excitement, to Who We’re Going to Become on the Other Side of the Changes, we can Thrive in what might otherwise be Difficult Circumstances.

This 19 April (4am PDT) Full Moon sets us up for two weeks that Ego-Fluffing, Materialistic, and Victim-Oriented astrologers will refer to as Dark Days, as they’re Dominated by Dances between Pluto (Ego Death / Trance Re-Formation), Saturn (Limitation / Prioritization), and the South Node (Karma / Recovering Lost Skills).  Chariklo (Threats to / Enhancement of, Self-Confidence) joins in.

While we might Experience all this as Deaths and Doubts caused by Limitations and Karma, we have the Option to Reframe it as a Nascent State of Consciousness filled with Enhanced Self-Worth, brought about by Attention to our Highest Priorities and by Letting Go of our Habitual Self-Sabotage.  The 19 April Scorpio Cusp Full Moon, if we Listen Carefully to Her Lessons, will set us up to “Win” this Portal, which is important because…

The following 4 May New Moon at the Midpoint of Taurus adjoins the Fixed Star Aldebaran, Harbinger of Spring (Dawn, Rebirth, Change, Revolution) and one of the four Royal Stars of Persia, symbolic of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.  Each of these four Great Stars Promise “Great Success” as long as we Avoid one Vulnerability that is the Downfall of each…

“In the case of Aldebaran, this challenge is one of integrity and honor.  Greatness can be achieved but the individual will be challenged on issues of integrity and purity of their thoughts and dealings.  If they fail this test they will lose everything.”  — (Bernadette) Brady’s Book of Fixed Stars, p.233

“Ugh, sorry, no, I have an Ego Death that week. How about next year?”
