Self-Doubt 2

Here’s a great example of Self-Doubt, that katie labels “Imposter Syndrome”…

“Something that has been popping up a lot around me lately in conversation has been ‘imposter syndrome’.  For anyone who has never heard of it, imposter syndrome is where people doubt their accomplishments or feel as if they will be exposed as fraudulent.

“It could apply to anything such as whether you feel you deserved an “A” in school or even Einstein experienced it (there is a great TED talk about this) with some of his discoveries.  What was amazing to me was that someone as brilliant as Einstein could feel something that so many of us feel and I was wondering about why that is.”

A friend considers “Imposter Syndrome” to be a positive sign, that we’re Stretching our Creativity to its Edges.   So like other Self-Doubt eruptions, it’s another Opportunity to Let Go of our Unworthiness Programming and Shift to Unconditional Regard for ourself.  If Doubt is persistent, we might Tap on it, “Even though I feel like an Imposter, I deeply and completely Love and Accept myself…”

We’re dealing with the Unconscious, so we can’t “Plan-Execute” our way into Self-Love.  But we can PIAVA something on the order of “All Obstacles between Self-Love and Me be Removed.”  Of course it would behoove to add “Lovingly and Gently” – or as Doug suggests “Gently and Powerfully,” or better yet, “Gently, Lovingly, and Powerfully” – lest Instant Healing fall upon us from on high and totally disorient us, causing us to scramble back to our Limiting Beliefs for Security.

I used to feel like I had to “prove” astrology to the many people whose only experience with it was via the daily newspaper – “Watch out for open manhole covers today, Virgo!”  Of course they’re personhole covers, but the daily newspaper never did figure that out.  Nowadays I just understand that their Closed mind is their Loss.  I’ll be happy to help if they Ask, but I’ve better things to do than confront them about it.  There are other areas though, where I still at times Fear my disguise is wearing thin, and that the counterparties to my informal agreements will Abandon me.

Like many other Anxieties, an effective way to deal with that is to invert it.  When I Fear someone will Abandon or Betray me, I need to Ask, “Who am I Abandoning or Betraying?”  It’s may well be someone else entirely, and it may be in our Fantasies only.  Or when I Doubt my Accomplishments or Fear I’ll be Exposed as a Fraud, I need to Ask, “Where in my Life am I Betraying myself?” or “Who do I Judge as a Fraud?”  Introjections (such as Fear of being a Victim) and Projections (eg Seeing in Others what we Judge in ourself) are as Heads and Tails; what’s the Coin?

Denial.  Other than being an epithet we accusingly Project onto someone else, Denial is a healthy Ego process.  Ego itself is also often an epithet, but we would not be able to function without an Ego or Identity of some sort.  Of course if we aren’t Identified with our Soul, then we actually are a Fraud, aren’t we.  The Fear or sense of being a Fraud may just be an Invitation to Shift our “Assemblage Point” to our Soul.

But when we have a load of Clearing to do to get there, and it would Overwhelm us and Fracture our Ego if we dove into it now, we Healthily Deny it in order to focus on things that are more Important in that moment, such as Keeping On Keeping On.  Sometimes we do Avoid Opportunities to Clear, and Keep On Keeping On in order to keep ourselves too busy to Notice what we’re Denying.  But when the Ego Fractures, we can only do one thing – put it back together again.  If we try to do anything else it just makes everything worse.

But there are times when we have to Face our Searching and Fearless Inventory and address what we’ve been Denying.  Often that will occur when dwarf planet Eris, which symbolizes Denial, is Lit Up.  And it is Lit Up in the Sappho-Station chart that rules this week.  We’ll talk about that in the next installment.
