August Total Solar Eclipse

It’s definitely not too soon, and may be a bit late, to Plan to attend the 21 August North American Total Solar Eclipse.  You probably want to PIAVA your attendance as well as Plan it.  A Total Solar Eclipse is a Lifetime-Quality-Amazing, Life-Changing event, even though it lasts only 2-3 minutes.  I still have a vivid memory of the one I was lucky enough to attend in 1979, and I’m Planning to attend this one.  Darkness falls before it gets to Europe or Africa, so it’s visible only from the US and the two adjacent Oceans.  The 45-mile-wide Path of Totality, starting at 10:15am PDT, takes about two and a half hours to cross Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Because Absence is just about the only way to bring the Ubiquitous into Consciousness, and because the Nature of the Unconscious is Ubiquitousness, we regard a Solar Eclipse as a Powerful symbol of Illumination.  The Eclipse chart is remarkable; we’ll dissect it later.

This is going to be such an amazing event! The last solar eclipse of this caliber was nearly 100 years ago… Exciting!
If you need a place to stay, we have one of the optimal points for viewing in the U.S. right here in Idaho! http://foxcreekcampout.com
