About Time Zones

For years (actually, decades – I’ve been doing this since 1980) I added links to Time-Zone Tables, but no one seemed to care, and it was a lot of work.  If you want to find the Tables, they’re at http://www.jbuss.com/tt/PDTx.htm and http://www.jbuss.com/tt/PSTx.htm , where you replace the “x” with the hour on the 24-hour clock.  For instance, 3pm PDT would be http://www.jbuss.com/tt/PDT15.htm .  On the 24-hour clock, midnight tonight is hour 0 (zero) tomorrow, 9am is hour 9, noon is hour 12, 1pm is hour 13, 10pm is hour 22, etc.

Google or Bing will be more accurate and complete anyway, and they’ll keep up with changes that I won’t have time to keep up with.  I prefer Bing to Google, because I try not to do business with companies whose stated business plan is to steal personal information from their users and sell it to advertisers, which is true of Google and Facebook.  Bing (Microsoft) is no Angel, but they’re not quite as mercenary.

Unless you travel constantly, you only need to look up a Time conversion once, because that will give you a permanent number to use every time.  For instance, when it’s 10pm PDT, it’s 3pm the next day in Brisbane (Bing “convert PDT to Brisbane”).  That’s a seventeen hour difference, added.  Which is seven hours subtracted (24-17=7), but the next day.  So if you’re in Brisbane, all you ever have to do is add a day and subtract seven hours.

To get the time in Peoria, just add two hours.  For Pretoria, add nine hours.  The website http://www.timebie.com/timezone/cdtpdt.php will give you a table converting PDT to your time every half hour.
